Staying licensed means staying educated — and in Georgia, that starts with knowing your CE requirements.
As a licensed veterinarian in Georgia, you're required to complete 30 hours of Board-approved continuing education every biennium (your two-year renewal period). Here's how those hours break down: 18 of 30 hours must cover scientific subject matter — think evidence-based medicine, surgery, diagnosis, and treatment protocols.
- 2 of those 30 hours must be dedicated to LEAP — Georgia Laws, Rules, and Professionalism. This requirement keeps Georgia practitioners up to date on the regulatory standards that govern our profession.
- Licensed in Georgia but practicing out of state? The LEAP requirement is waived for you. Continuing education isn't just a checkbox — it's how Georgia's veterinary community stays sharp, ethical, and at the forefront of animal care.
