If you promise to stay in school and work to get ahead, we promise to provide the support and tools you need to succeed, lead a productive life and be an important part of Georgia’s future prosperity. In Georgia, one in three high school students will not graduate—often due to factors outside of their control, such as poverty or inadequate housing. 1.3 million Georgians over the age of 18 don’t ha
ve high school diplomas and are not adequately prepared for the workplace. Bringing together public and private partnerships, mentors and positive workplaces, Great Promise Partnership is giving at-risk students a reason to stay in school and succeed. Great Promise Partnership (GPP) is a collaboration of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Georgia 4-H, the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia, local school districts and Georgia employers and is modeled on Southwire Inc.’s successful 12 for Life program. It is a cooperative education nonprofit organization that works to increase the number of high school graduates in Georgia and to prepare students for their next post-secondary step whether it is college, technical school, the military or work. Through partnerships of schools, employers and youth development organizations, middle and high school students are provided academic support, employment opportunities, life skills training, mentoring and other assistance needed to complete their high school education and prepare for the future.
