🇺🇸 WALEC Welcomes Judge Stephen N. Knights, Jr. as Honorary Advisor

WALEC is proud to congratulate and welcome Judge Stephen N. Knights, Jr., Judge of the Henry County State Court, as our newest Honorary Advisor.

Judge Knights brings a distinguished background in law enforcement, prosecution, and the judiciary. He studied Criminal Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and served as an NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer while in college. He later served as a prosecutor in Georgia before beginning his judicial career in 2012 as a Magistrate Court Judge. In September 2022, he was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve as a Judge of the Henry County State Court.

Beyond his legal and judicial career, Judge Knights has demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Judge Knights expressed his strong support for WALEC’s mission and vision and shared his commitment to actively participate in WALEC’s future programs and initiatives.

We are honored to have Judge Knights join WALEC as an Honorary Advisor and look forward to working together to strengthen partnerships among law enforcement, the judiciary, and our communities.

WALEC Visits Gwinnett County Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Unit

WALEC was pleased to visit the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit of the Gwinnett County Police Department, one of our valued law enforcement partners.

This visit was especially meaningful because we first toured the CSI Unit with students about two years ago. During this visit, we discussed opportunities for student internships and career exposure, as well as plans for our next CSI educational tour.

We are grateful to the CSI team for their continued partnership and for opening their doors to help students better understand the important work of forensic investigation and law enforcement.

As a small token of appreciation, WALEC, together with . also delivered Korean foods to the CSI team. We hope everyone enjoys them!

WALEC looks forward to continuing to build meaningful partnerships with the Gwinnett County Police Department and creating more opportunities for students to learn, explore, and connect with law enforcement professionals.

Our NEXT WALEC members visited the Gwinnett Sheriff's Office to deliver meals we prepared with care and express our sincere appreciation to the dedicated men and women who serve our community.

It was a meaningful opportunity to show our gratitude and encouragement to those who work every day to keep our communities safe.

WALEC had the opportunity to meet with Duluth Police Chief Jacquelyn Carruth to discuss ways to strengthen communication and partnership between law enforcement and the community. We also shared feedback from local residents to help improve public service and community trust.
We appreciate Chief Carruth's time and willingness to listen, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to build a safer and stronger community for everyone.

🚀 NEXT WALEC Officially Launches!

During the 1st Georgia Police Family Day Proclamation Ceremony, NEXT WALEC, the student leadership organization under WALEC, officially began its mission.

Lydia Kim was appointed as the inaugural Student Leader and will help lead initiatives focused on developing the next generation of leaders, promoting community service, and strengthening relationships with law enforcement agencies.

Through NEXT WALEC, WALEC is committed to empowering young people with leadership skills, a spirit of service, and opportunities to make a meaningful impact in their communities while building strong partnerships with law enforcement.

Together, we are shaping the next generation of leaders.

🇺🇸 WALEC Successfully Hosted the Inaugural Georgia Police Family Day Proclamation Ceremony

On July 23, 2026, WALEC, founded and chaired by Jeong Min, proudly hosted the 1st Georgia Police Family Day Proclamation Ceremony at Liberty Plaza - Georgia State Capitol.

Under the theme "Behind Every Badge, There Is Family," the event honored law enforcement officers and the families who stand behind them with unwavering sacrifice and support.

Governor Brian Kemp officially proclaimed Georgia Police Family Day, with the cooperation of Attorney General Chris Carr (Honorary Advisor) and State Representative Scott Hilton (Honorary Advisor).

Congratulatory messages were delivered by Governor Brian Kemp, First Lady Marty Kemp, State Senator Kay Kirkpatrick, State Representative Matt Reeves (Legal Advisor), State Representative Jasmine Clark (Honorary Advisor), Judge Stephen Knights, and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. The ceremony was emceed by Natalie Ammons, WALEC Honorary Advisor and President of the Georgia Chapter of NOBLE.

Distinguished guests included Police Consul Myung Hwan Sung, Burch Ayers, Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, Judge Neera Bahl, and law enforcement leaders from across Georgia.

A special highlight was the presentation of an official U.S. Capitol Flag provided by Congressman Andrew Clyde (Honorary Advisor), flown over the United States Capitol in recognition of America's 250th Anniversary and WALEC's Georgia Police Family Day initiative.

Representing WALEC’s partner agencies, the Capitol Flag was presented to Fulton County Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat, Gwinnett County Police Chief James McClure, DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Padrick, Lawrenceville Police Chief John Mullin, Hogansville Police Chief Jeff Sheppard (District 3 President, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police), President of the Georgia Chapter of NOBLE Natalie Ammons, and WALEC Executive Vice Chairwoman Sandy Min.

The event also featured cultural performances, appreciation giveaways, and door prizes. Congratulations to Officer Quolettea Cole of the Lawrenceville Police Department, who received the grand prize.

🚒🇺🇸 Visiting Jackson Trail Fire Department 🇺🇸🚒

Today, I had the honor of visiting Jackson Trail Fire Department and meeting with the dedicated firefighters who serve and protect their local community.

Many of these brave men and women are volunteer firefighters who sacrifice their time to respond when their neighbors need help most. Their commitment, courage, and service represent the true spirit of community partnership.

During my visit, I shared information about WALEC’s upcoming First Annual Georgia Police Family Day Proclamation Ceremony on July 23, 2026, at Liberty Plaza, Georgia State Capitol, and personally invited the firefighters to join us as we honor law enforcement officers, first responders, and their families.

WALEC believes that building stronger relationships between public safety professionals and the community begins with appreciation, respect, and meaningful connections.
