Today, I am proud to honor my first teacher, my mother, Mrs. Glenda Walker-Erskine.

Long before I entered a classroom, my mother taught me to love my family, enjoy healthy meals, and value good books.

As a proud graduate of Shortwood Teachers' College and a dedicated educator, my mother devoted her career to shaping the minds and futures of countless students. Even in retirement, her commitment to education continues through the Linda and Douglas Foundation, which she founded to celebrate and support tomorrow’s leaders.

Every one of us can trace our journey to teachers who encouraged us and helped us become who we are today.

My mother is the first teacher who changed my life.

Today I honor her with a $100 gift to LAD Foundation's Growth and Enlightenment Award.
