One of our clients shared this moment from his own life, which is a reminder of how the journey we walk shapes the way we show up for others:

"An associate pastor from my own church asked to meet for coffee. He began with the usual questions about Scripture and LGBTQ people...Then, he stopped and said quietly, 'The real reason I wanted to meet is that my 40-year-old son is gay. How can I accept him if I believe homosexuality is wrong?' In that moment, everything I had learned from Embracing the Journey came rushing back. I shared our journey with our daughter. I asked about his relationship with his son and his son's partner. I encouraged him to begin with love."

None of us know when our own story will become a bridge for someone else's. That's part of why this community matters — the things you learn here don't just change your relationship with your own child. They ripple outward.

The hardest part of your child coming out often isn't the news itself...it's the isolation that follows. There's grief for the dreams you had. That's how Patricia and Bernie found Embracing the Journey — and how nine years of separation from their son Joe began to heal.
