The Woodstock Lions Club is having Food Drive to support the Woodstock High School Pantry which also supports the Woodstock Middle School, and Woodstock, Sixes, and Carmel Elementary.

Please send this flyer out to your family and friends. And, please post on your Social Feeds.

And, if you are player in our October 18th Pickleball Jamboree and you bring food to donate, you will receive one free Raffle ticket.

We need your support and communications to the public to make this Food Drive successful. Unfortunately there are way too many students with food insecurity.

Thank you in advance for collecting and donating food.

Hunger is one of the Lions' eight Global Causes. The Woodstock Lions Club is honored to be able to help in a small way address hunger in Cherokee County. In the month of September the Woodstock Lions Club gave the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church Food Pantry $1,000 and the Never Alone Food Pantry $500.

Patrick Arko, the Director at the St. Michael's Food Pantry, was in attendance at last night's Club meeting to receive the $1,000 check. This money was from the proceeds of the Club's "Paint for a Purpose" event held in August. Thank you to participants in the Paint for a Purpose event.

Money given to Never Alone Food Pantry is from funds raised from our annual Pickleball Jamboree. Thank you to past and present Sponsors and players in our annual Jamboree.

Did you know that a $1.00 donation to either of those food pantries buys three family meals. Both pantries purchase food from the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The Woodstock Lions Club is helping a community in need. One act of kindness at a time.

The Woodstock Lions Club held their monthly meeting on Monday, September 28th. The guest speaker was Jennifer Arp, Environmental Affairs Manager at Cherokee County Water & Sewer Authority.

Jennifer shared insights into CCWSA's work to provide clean safe water to the citizens of Cherokee County. Did you know CCWSA is NOT a government agency. No tax payer funds are given to CCWSA. Revenue from selling water is their source of funding. CCWSA is working hard to insure citizens of Cherokee County have safe clean drinking water for years to come. This includes closely monitoring potential new data centers and fighting to keep dangerous chemicals from entering our water sources.

Club members also got to see the newly installed Woodstock Lions Club plaque inside The Tavern at Towne Lake.

As I go around passing out cards for people to register for our 2026 Pickleball Jamboree, I am asked "what does the Woodstock Lions Club do?" Here is my answer:

Where there is a need, there is a Woodstock Lions Club member to help. Here is how our Club supports the Lion’s eight Global Causes in your community.

Childhood Cancer
Support the CURE’ Childhood Cancer Foundation by volunteering quarterly to serve lunch at the Arthur Blank Children’s Hospital & donate care bags for patients. Support the Foundation for Hospital Art touching up paintings being donated to Children’s hospitals.

Diabetes
Lions, with the support of Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), are working to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the lives of those living with diabetes.

Disaster Relief
Whenever and wherever disaster strikes, Lions are often among the first to offer aid. LCIF is ready to support their efforts with funding assistance through global disaster relief programs. When a need is there our Club will send funds to LCIF to distribute to specific areas we want to support.

Environment
Support the Woodstock Adopt-A-Road program with clean-up responsibility of a one-mile stretch of Trickum Road. Donate to the Cherokee County Master Gardeners Program to support their food gardens that donate grown food to food pantries. Helped create and maintain the Etowah High School gardening program. Food grown at the Etowah HS is donated to local food pantries.

Humanitarian
Support the Cherokee Family Violence Center & various Veteran programs with funds and donations.

Hunger
Support monetarily, Lion volunteers working in the panty, & food donation campaigns with St. Michaels’ Food pantry. Support monetarily & food donation campaigns to Never Alone Food pantry. Support with purchased physical goods the Woodstock High School pantry that also supplies the Woodstock Middle & Elementary School.

Vision
Very active in Woodstock & other Cherokee County schools performing vision screening to students. Active in various health fairs in county performing vision screenings. Support monetarily through donations and fundraising the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation.

Youth

Support the Georgia Blind Sports Association monetarily & by volunteering at their Blind Goalball Tournament. Support monetarily & through offering opportunities for “service hours” the River Ridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC program.

Woodstock Lions Club members Robert Shull, Cathy Murray, Paul D. Smith, and Paul's wife Sandy, volunteered at the Foundation for Hospital Art on September 17th, 2026.

The Foundation for Hospital Art is a non-profit organization that donates at least one painting to every healthcare facility in the world. The organization has donated over 52,000 paintings to hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, shelters, hospices and schools in 195 countries. Volunteers help touch-up paintings and murals so the Foundation for Hospital Art can send them to where they are needed the most.
