For anyone familiar with Northside Methodist Church, Sue Allen and her wisdom is likely a staple in your life. Sue's beautiful blog devotional lands in inboxes every day. Recently, Sue shared this beautiful story. FSA is proud to be a part of this story:

Good morning…

“This photo popped up this morning,” wrote Jennifer DeShetler yesterday. “This is what I was thinking of when I shared the cake kits for needy families. Audrey made her brother’s birthday cake every year. This photo was taken when she was 8 years old (12 years ago).”

“Wow!” I replied. “What a picture of loving kindness. This goes right along with the birthday cake boxes we are sharing with those who receive food through Food Security of America at Northside Church every other Tuesday. I went last week to help bag up the donated meats and vegetables, and I will make this commitment a regular part of my Tuesdays from here on out.”

“Cake kits continue to appear on my doorstep,” I explained. “God has been so generous, creative, expansive! The first 30 cake kits we delivered with Easter lilies and homemade cards to senior citizens in Grove Park. The next 25 went through Food Security of America at Northside Church to low income families in Marietta. Two cake kits were shared with a family that just moved into a new place. One went to Mike-Mike’s family who is grieving the loss of his mom, given with a $50 Kroger gift card and breakfast items for Easter morning. Now I have five more donated birthday cake boxes to share, as Food Security of America serves families in Smyrna at the end of the month.”

“God is so good at spreading JOY!!!” I told Jennifer. “Thanks for being a part of the adventure. I can’t wait to see you at lunch on Thursday.”

Brothers and sisters, we cannot help but thank God for you, which is only appropriate because your faith is growing and expanding and because the love demonstrated by each and every one of you is overflowing for one another (2 Thessalonians 1:3, VOICE).

…Sue…

Please meet Jeannine Rollins on the Food Security for America Board of Directors.

Jeannine first connected with FSA through our Hurricane Helene response, stepping in to help make an urgent supply run to Lyons, Georgia possible. What she saw wasn’t just a delivery. It was neighbors organizing, responding fast, and making sure support reached people with dignity.

That experience led to something lasting. We’re grateful for Jeannine’s leadership, generosity, and belief in community-powered food security.

Giving to Food Security for America doesn’t always look like writing a check.

Sometimes it’s bringing your team for a volunteer day. Sometimes it’s introducing us to the right company partner or church. Sometimes it’s sharing a skill that helps a Food Security Group run stronger. Sometimes it’s stepping into leadership through board or committee service.

If you’ve ever wondered how to help, reach out!

Affifliates are an important part of the FSA model. Seen here from 2025, Boxwood FANN leadership in Columbus, GA, with FSA Executive Director Mercy McDaniel. This official FSA affiliate group requested an inspirational message be brought by Mercy to their group over the phone due to hard times. They were beyond thrilled to welcome her to Columbus in person! It was an encouraging and moving visit for all! Keep our FSA affiliates all over the country in your prayers.

At Food Security for America, spring renewal looks like neighbors gathering again, sharing resources, building steady access to healthy food, and turning “I’m on my own” into “I’ve got people.”

That’s what Bridge to Belonging means here. A real shift from surviving to being supported.

If you’re deciding where to give this season: your donation helps keep food security groups moving, fresh food on tables, and community growing where it’s needed most.

Give today and help build the bridge.

Please meet Alan Nicely a member of the Food Security for America Board of Directors.

Known across Cobb County as “Coach,” Alan spent 32 years teaching and coaching at Campbell High School before turning his full attention to mission work through Smyrna First UMC. He helped launch the Tillman House Resource Center and brings the same steady leadership to FSA’s work of providing food with dignity.

We’re grateful to have you with us, Coach.

Hands up if you're ready for sunshine, strawberries, and support! Spring has arrived, and our Food Security Groups are growing stronger, and maybe a little sillier, together.

Community involves all ages, races, family dynamics and walks of life. Here are some wonderful ladies of an older generation helping each other at a food security group! THIS IS WHERE FSA IS DIFFERENT than a food bank. It is not just food, it is community support.
