Its late, but want to post this before the day gets busy tomorrow and beyond... many of you know about my Project RePurse - Serving women in transition and our efforts to encourage women in transitional housing to see hope for the future, do the work on themselves, be in a safe and loving environment and to just stay and let the new chapters of their lives begin.
You see Christmas and Mothers Day are hard when you've hit bottom and working your way back up. Hard when your life doesnt look like a Hallmark Movie or a Mother's Day Card and you're not quite sure how to get there. Hard when you might be separated from family and kids and it becomes hard to stay.
When you've hit the bottom, staying is the way to freedom, to building a connection with yourself, the way to heal, to find hope to find the path to new chapters in your story.
I know this because a little over 22 years ago I was at the bottom. And there were those that encouraged me to stay, to complete the 28 day live in program I went to in Virginia, to face the consequences of my addictions, to find a new way to live.
I know that every good thing in my life is a result of staying and facing the mirror and living another day clean and sober. Project RePurse is my effort to let other women know that staying opens new doors, staying open new chapters and staying heals.
Thank you to the many that made Project RePurse possible this year through the events that helped spread awareness, the individuals that donated money, toiletries or purses. We are using the last of the new purses (a wholesale lot of 300) I bought 2 years ago and will use the variety of new ones collected for Mothers Day. We used your cash donations to buy toiletries and scarves and socks and treats for filling and each RePurse has a Christmas Card, a story written by a friend of mine in recovery and $5 for a treat.
Cash donations collected will also go towards making PR an offical 501c3 next year and to expand to 2 other cities where we have someone wanted to make an impact.
Thank you for your support over the years and to keep encouraging women one RePurse at a time. Want to learn more, follow the PR Page at Project RePurse - Serving women in transition and if you feel lead to give, there is a link on that page as well as instructions for mailing gently loved purses or toiletries for use in the future.
Thank you and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Joy to the World and a big thank you to my daughter for being the Queen Stuffer this year and making cookies to deliver as well!
