An Appeal from a Grateful Parent:

"Your donation can save lives. My daughter Meghan was destined to become another statistic to su***de, currently the second leading cause of death for youth in America.

She had been admitted to seven different hospitalization programs before we found Hillside. Her outbursts were severe, prolonged, and had left our relationship in tatters.

Every day, young people in crisis are having to “fail” their way up the system with multiple hospitalizations before they can access the higher level of care they need at Hillside.

After only three weeks of treatment at Hillside, our insurance company revoked funding against clinical advice, an all-too-common occurrence in Georgia. By removing treatment before she had time to learn and practice the healing coping skills that Hillside teaches, Meghan was at risk of further hospitalizations…or worse.

As a single parent with no child support and few other financial resources, I was terrified at what our future looked like without Hillside’s continued treatment.
Luckily, with the help of Hillside’s Scholarship Fund—which is generously funded by donors like you— Meghan received an additional six weeks of treatment before she returned home to me safely. A year on, she has not had any hospitalizations and is able to see a psychiatrist once every six weeks to help keep her on track and improving.

The Scholarship Fund helps families access treatment when they need it the most. This support stopped my daughter’s hospitalizations, kept our family together, and gave us all hope for the future.
