The wildfires in California are wreaking havoc, leaving people displaced from their homes. Wild animals and pets are scattered across the streets, fleeing for their lives. Many are injured, others have sought shelter in unfamiliar areas, and all are without food, water, and safety, driven by fear. Wildlife rescue organizations will soon be overwhelmed with urgent calls and cases. Supplies and medications are costly, and the need for assistance will be great. Please consider supporting one of the rescue organizations listed below with a donation. They need us.

Please consider donating to CA Wildlife Rescue Organizations:

* Pasadena Humane has already taken in more than 400 animals from the CA wildfires!

* California Wildlife Center
(https://www.cawildlife.org): Provides medical care and rehabilitation for injured wildlife.

* The Humane Society of Ventura County
(https://www.hsvc.org): Offers shelter and care to wildlife and pets affected by fires.

* Wildlife Care of Southern California
(http://wildlifecareofsocal.org): Focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating displaced and injured animals.

***UPDATE***

This boy was picked up and taken to rehabber Hannah in Stockbridge. He is now resting and has pain meds and antibiotics on board.

Good morning everyone. Another rehabbed got this call from a DNR officer this morning. This isn’t near her so we are looking for some help.

FWD:
I got a call in the middle of the night about an injured opossum on the side of the road across the street from 20 Homeplace Dr Covington. Do you know anyone close by who could get it? The caller placed a cardboard box over it and she said it’s got an injured foot. We don’t have anyone available to go check it out and just seeing if you had anyone

Is there anyone that can check on this poor animal and transport to me? If so please TEXT ME AT 678-327-1113

I will start by saying that this incident was an accident and the person feels very bad about it. This post is to educate not to criticize.

We got this baby in tonight. The person that brought her said she was run over on purpose. I gave very careful instructions to the person helping it to scoot it into a box using caution. Someone came along to help her and did not use caution. He picked up with his hands instead of scooting it into the box. The raccoon bit him. Raccoons are rabies carriers. Because it bit the man it will now have to go for rabies testing. This means it will loose its young life because the test requires brain tissue. This could have easily been avoided. It seems that this poor animal just did not have a chance tonight.

Please use caution when dealing with wildlife. Contact a licensed rehabber and follow directions. Always wear thick gloves and find something to help slide the animal into a box or carrier with.

Hi everyone. Clearing up something. I had to make an alternate account to get back into my Lucky’s Place page. My alternate page is Bailey Spots. He is my male Dalmatian. This is Jackie . I will be happy to answer questions to verify if needed.

Here are just a few of the animals we are currently caring for at Lucky’s Place. This Winter has been especially overwhelming. Typically, we see a decline in intakes, but this year, all of our cages are full, and we're constantly scrambling to make room so we can try to save just one more…

We desperately need your help. Each week, we spend at least $300 to feed these beautiful creatures. During the Spring and Summer months, when formula is also required, our food expenses rise to $450–$500 per week. On top of food costs, we must also purchase puppy pads, medical supplies, cleaning products, and utilities—our water bill alone exceeds $200 due to the volume of laundry with towels and blankets for the cages. While we are continuously seeking ways to reduce costs without compromising the quality of care, the rising prices of supplies and the declining donations are becoming increasingly difficult to manage.

If you’re able to contribute, any donation would be greatly appreciated, no matter the amount. As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution is tax-deductible.

Thank you for helping us continue to care for these animals in need. We can’t do it without you.

LUCKY HAS A RIDE!!!!

Our Lucky fox needs a ride. Mange is almost gone but upon examination about one inch of this string was sticking out of his neck. I was able to remove this large piece easily but would like another rehabber to have a look. She is also a vet and can get some X-rays. Pick up is in Woodstock and drop off is in the Byron/Fort Valley area.

If you can help please TEXT me at 678-327-1113

This would have to happen tomorrow or possibly over the weekend.

Meet Ruby Grace, 2025’s first intake. She was found in the road after being hit by a car. A very nice woman and her daughter drove all the way from Gainesville with her. She is a sweet little thing🥰. Hopefully she’ll be on the road to recovery now that she is in care.
