hey y’all!

It’s been a while! I had to take a break to focus on school but senior year is kicking my butt! but i am sharing this on here because valentine’s day is around the corner!! this is always a big holiday for me because it’s all about love!

it’s important that everyone but especially those in foster care know they are loved and there are people out there ready to give them that unconditional love everyone is constantly searching for. being in the system doesn’t change them as they think they do. it’s okay to be themselves and love themselves also.

i’m doing my valentine cards again this year and wanted to start them early so we have enough because we are doing more than one location this year woo-hoo!!! i’m really hoping to have at least 200 this year! please fill out multiple if you can, share the link, whatever you are lead to do!

Friends.

That is what is on my mind today, because lately I have been really blessed with my friends and the memories I am making.

If you would have asked me if I would feel like this way years or even months ago, the answer would have been no. I felt like I didn't have anyone who would really understand other than my family, that's a lie y'all. I was surrounded by friends in every way and I am just now realizing that.

In the foster system, having a friend that really understands you, the frustation, the fear, the thoughts in your head is hard. There is over 437,000 children in the system, that doesn't mean that you have automatic friends. Every single child in there has a different experience in life and in the system. They truly feel like no one gets them. They take that feeling with them through life.

Hug your friends a little tighter today, send them a message to say how thankful you are because we are lucky.

Happy Holidays! I hope you all have enjoyed your day and weekend! Here’s to 2021:)

I wanted to update you! With all of your tremendous help, we were able to give over 30 holiday cards out and 96 candy canes! That is roughly 3 candy canes per child!

Thank you so much for all the support! We have more projects coming up soon and I am so excited to be doing this again!

Holiday Season.

Every year, it’s something that my family and I look forward to. The lights, the holiday cheer, the hot cocoa, time away from school to spend with family and friends. It’s hard not to love the holidays. It’s hard not to be stuck in the light of gifts and selfishness.

It’s been a while since I have been on here for For Daphne and frankly, it’s because I got caught up in my personal life and forgot about the love and care that I wanted to bring to those in the system.

The system is not always kind, there are state systems that will allow some kids to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas but there are some that don’t. I remember how annoying it was not to be able to see my mom whenever I wanted. I forget that not everyone has the opportunity to go home. Holidays mean more than gifts, homemade pies, and enjoying the lights and gifts. It’s about coming together and enjoying company of others.

Holidays for those in the system can be confusing and frustrating. Holidays can be a reminder that this family is temporary. I don’t want to sit back and know that some children may feel this way.

SO, main thing - I want to do Holiday E-CARDS!!!! Because of COVID, the original plan has to change but we still want to give love, below is the link to fill out, please do so by Dec 23rd!! ❤️

Hello Everyone!
We hope you and your family are staying safe during these unprecedented times. Please just take some time today to thank first responders for rolling with the punches and keeping us all as safe as possible.
While the foster care system is a great resource for children in difficult positions, being uprooted frequently can, and in many cases does, cause developmental trauma. The grief over the loss of their normal life, friends, school, or parents experienced by these children can be hard to fathom (Monique 2018). As a foster parent, helping a foster child sift through these emotions is important and difficult. The difficulty becomes even more real with having to fulfill all the other responsibilities of a parent. Tonight, we would like to ask for prayers for both the children and parents involved in the foster system. Please drop a heart or a comment for those in the system:)

CLASS OF 2020,

This wasn’t supposed to happen to you. You are supposed to be going to prom, going on that senior trip that you’ve been planning for months. You are supposed to walk those highschool halls excited about graduation. I am sorry that you won’t get a real last day of high school, a proper prom, or get to do that senior trip you’ve been planning for months. It breaks my heart. This wasn’t how it was suppose to go. Sadly, this is how things are. I am sad that you are missing out of these adventures and if i could give it all to you i would. I want to challenge you to make the most out of the circumstances that you are in, no they are not ideal. But you are made for this moment. You can be the change. No one else can say that their senior year was like this. My advice would be to enjoy your freedom and childhood while it lasts. Take a moment and think, feel the emotions that you are allowed to have. Something so precious was taken from you but you can make the most of it. YOUR TIME IS NOW!!

I want you each and every one of you that moments of my senior year that I hold so dearly in my heart. I wish that was possible, i know i can’t but I can try and do the next best thing.

Below you’ll see a couple of examples of what I want to do for you, Class of 2020!!!

Starting April 6, I am holding a senior week!! I hope you will dress up and share with me and others! I will be doing it in honor of you guys!! I am so excited to be able to give you this-even virtually!!

I am also so excited to be able to tell you that I want to create a yearbook for YOU!!! I will make it personalized to you! I will include whatever pictures and events you want! I will do whatever colors you want and font and senior quote, etc!! I want this to be for YOU!! I am also hoping to include some senior letters for you!

Another option just for you, is our senior sunrise!! On April 24th (weather permitting) we will get up and watch a sunrise! I want to do it with a bunch of people and share it! Maybe it can be a part of the yearbook!!

I am so excited to be able to do this!!

In times of need , For Daphne wants to be someone you can count on. Through out this, our hope was to reach out to children out of school and the elderly, however, in order to protect those who need it - we are offering something more priceless , prayer.

EACH and EVERY one of you are in our thoughts and prayers and I pray that you are staying safe.
