Thank you to everyone who came to our phone bank today! We spent about an hour calling legislators in the Georgia Senate Ethics Committee about different Senate bills that would be harmful to Georgians and voters as a whole. Among the worst of these bills is SB 29, which would require voters to submit a photocopy of their ID with both their absentee ballot application and their completed ballot. This proposed change is unnecessary, restrictive, and bad for Democracy. It makes it very difficult for voters to cast their vote, and will disproportionately affect communities of color. Thank you to all the STAR members who took time out of their day to come contribute to this cause and be young influencers in our democracy!

STAR concluded on our two day Refugee Panel with Sifora and Siti Bin as our panelists last weekend. THANK YOU to everyone who joined us and to the 60+ people who signed up to join us. On October 6th, Tucker STAR was able to have a tent & table set up at Tucker’s Socially Distant Night Out, and speak with people who attended this event! Thank you to everyone who was able to donate! STAR was able to raise $100 for refugees in Yemen, Tanzania, and Lebanon. You can still help STAR in other ways, such as participating in our other upcoming volunteer events, so stay on the lookout for more events!
