Update on little Harper.
Monday June 1st, surgery #40
It has been a tough day to say the least, we had to be at the hospital this morning at 7:30 but ran a little late because Harperâs belly was a little messed up and she threw up on the way to the hospital. We think she was just really nervous about going to the doctor and nerves got the best of her but she was fine after that.
They did let us proceed with the procedure and Harper did so good getting all her vitals checked and getting eyedrops, all the preparation before surgery she did very well with and we are so proud of her for that, sheâs the strongest little warrior there is. She went back with the doctors and shortly after we got the heart breaking news that her cancer has came back and it has came back quite aggressively. The right eye is still stable and doing good praise god, but the left is covered with new growth, there is also growth within her optic nerve which is very serious because it could potentially go to her brain. So her doctor gave us 2 options, 1 being intra-arterial chemotherapy which is a pretty harsh process for a 2 year old to undergo with a 50/50 chance of actually stopping the cancer from spreading, or option 2 which is Enucleation; the removal of her eye.
After hearing this Jordan and I needed some time to process and make a decision. So after talking with Jordan and discussing it further with the doctor we have decided that the best plan of action to keep the cancer from spreading any further is to have her eye removed, her surgery is scheduled for next Monday. This some worst news to hear as a parent and I canât even describe how devastated we are that our baby has to go through this and on top of that trying to explain to her whatâs to come. But in these times of hardship we understand that God has a plan and this is part of it, yes its hard but thatâs when true faith is tested, is in these hard times and our faith has not wavered nor will it. Harper woke up this afternoon around 2 and was nothing but laughs and smiles, that right there just lifted our spirits and made everything just a little bit better, and we thank God for that blessing. We just ask that everyone pray that the cancer does not spread any further and everything goes smoothly on Monday. Harper is so strong and resilient, I have no doubt that she will overcome this obstacle just as she has all the others before it, Gods got this đđť
