Today Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity Region II honors Indigenous Peoples Day day to recognize, celebrate, and give thanks to the Native American nations and Indigenous communities whose land we walk on and whose contributions to this country run deeper than most history books will ever capture. Indigenous Americans serve in the United States military at a higher rate per capita than any other ethnic group in the nation. They have answered every call to service with a dedication and warrior spirit that commands the deepest respect. Today is World Mental Health Day — and we are not going to let it pass without saying something real. Mental health in the military community is still one of the most underfunded, undertreated, and misunderstood issues we face. Too many brothers have been told to push through. Too many have been handed a prescription instead of a plan. Too many have left the VA feeling more alone than when they walked in. Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity Region II believes that mental health IS health. Full stop. There is no strength in suffering in silence. There is no honor in carrying wounds that could be treated. Real brotherhood means sitting with your brother in his worst moment and saying — I am here. I am not going anywhere. Today we challenge every brother in Region II to check on someone. Make one call. Send one text. Show up. Because we never leave a brother behind — on the battlefield or in the mind. 988 Press 1.

🌀 HURRICANE ISAIAS — REGION II, THIS ONE'S FOR US 🌀
Brothers, family, and friends of Region II:
Hurricane Isaias is heading for the Gulf Coast. Landfall is expected late Friday night into early Saturday, most likely near Pensacola.
Florida, Alabama, and Georgia are all under a state of emergency.
This storm is moving fast, so the damaging winds and tornadoes
will reach well inland. Pensacola, Montgomery, Birmingham, Columbus, and areas across Georgia and north Florida all need to be ready.
✅ If you're told to evacuate, GO. Don't try to ride it out.
✅ Charge your phones, fill your tanks, and stock up on water, food, batteries, and meds.
✅ Know where you'll take cover if a tornado warning hits.
✅ Check on your neighbors, your elders, and military families whose spouses are deployed.
If you need help, before or after, reach out to us. We don't care what org you're in, if any. Everyone in our footprint is part of this brotherhood. If we can help, we will. That's what this brotherhood is for.

🎀 During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Region II honors two strong women in the family of our Brother Leon “Randolph” McCord Jr.—his mother, Lorene McCord, and his grandmother, Rebecca Hampton.

Lorene was diagnosed with breast cancer on June 8, 2014. Though the journey has brought difficult and discouraging moments, she continues to hold on with strength and perseverance. 💗

Rebecca was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and underwent surgery to remove both breasts. Through it all, she kept her spirit lifted. At 91 years old, she continues to praise God! 🙏🏾

Brother Leon, your Region II family stands beside you as we honor your mother and grandmother. Their courage, faith, and determination inspire us all.

🎀 During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we honor our Brother Roy “J.O.B “Handy Jr. and the loving memory of his beloved wife, Mrs. Greer T. Handy.

Called home September 17, 2014

A devoted Christian, loving mother of two, and faithful wife of 25 years, Greer was Roy’s high school sweetheart and his cherished “Battle Buddy.” As a proud Army wife, she cared for their family, kept everything together at home, and nursed him back to health.

Above all, she taught him to love God—a gift Roy credits with saving his soul. Her faith, love, and dedication live on through the family they built together and the memories they shared.

Brother Roy, your Region II family stands beside you. This month, we wear pink in remembrance of Greer and in support of every family touched by breast cancer. May God continue to comfort you and your family.

📢 Veterans, the PACT Act goes beyond filling out paperwork online—and it covers more than burn pits.

I recently learned something that I believe more veterans need to hear: Contact your local VA and ask about a toxic exposure screening and speaking with an Environmental Health Coordinator. They can help explain your possible military exposures, available evaluations, and next steps.

I didn’t know about this until the Uptown VA in Augusta, Georgia, helped arrange an appointment for me. During my care in Columbus, I hadn’t been made aware of this resource. I’ve also spoken with veterans who retired long before I did, and they had no idea either.

Being rated 100% doesn’t mean your health stops needing attention. Keep up with your medical care, discuss new symptoms with your provider, and make sure your exposure concerns are documented. Some exposure-related illnesses, including certain cancers, may develop years after service.

Also, understand that a toxic exposure screening, an environmental health registry, and a disability claim are separate processes. Registry participation is voluntary and is not required to receive PACT Act benefits.

I’m sharing this because I’m not a gatekeeper. If I learn something that could help another veteran, I’m passing it along.

Call your VA. Ask questions. Get connected with the right team. Take care of yourself and your family—you’re worth the appointment. 🇺🇸

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity Region II is using our platform to speak up for the mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and partners in our communities who are fighting this battle.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. In the military community — female veterans face unique barriers to early detection and quality care that most people are never even aware of.

As brothers, veterans, and protectors — this is our cause too. Early detection saves lives. Knowledge saves lives. Community saves lives.

To every woman in the KLC Region II family who has fought or is fighting breast cancer — you are a warrior in every sense of the word. We stand with you this month and every month. 🎀 Share this post and tag someone who needs to see it today.

As we step into October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s carry September’s message of Su***de Prevention Awareness with us. The month may end, but the need for compassion, connection, and support never does.

Not every disability is visible. Not every cry for help makes a sound. People living with PTSD, ADHD, traumatic brain injuries, depression, and anxiety may be carrying pain you cannot see. A smile does not always mean someone is okay.

To anyone struggling: You are not weak. You are not a burden. You do not have to face this alone. Your pain deserves to be heard, and you deserve support—even when you cannot find the words to ask for it.

Reach out to someone you trust. If all you can say is, “I’m not okay, and I need you,” that is enough to start.

In the U.S., call or text 988 for crisis support. Veterans and service members can call 988 and press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line.

Check on your people. Ask how they are really doing. Listen without judgment, and follow up after the conversation ends.

Awareness cannot stop at a ribbon or a calendar date. Let it become a phone call, a conversation, and a commitment to show up.

You matter. Your life matters. Stay. Let someone help you take the next step. 🎗️
