On Juneteenth, we celebrate and honor the day when in 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were notified by federal soldiers that they were now free people. The news reached this community more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth did not become a federally recognized holiday until 2021.

At STRIVE, we are committed to serving those facing societal barriers to economic mobility. As we celebrate the resiliency of those who have fought toward racial freedom and justice, we understand there is still much work to be done before we achieve true equity.

The STRIVE Atlanta office is closed on June 19th.

STRIVE Atlanta thanks the Delta Community Credit Union Philanthropic Fund for supporting our Financial Opportunity Cente program! Everyone here at STRIVE is so grateful for the contribution and recognizing the work we do for community.

We awarded the final grant of February from our 2024 Philanthropic Fund to STRIVE Atlanta. The organization received $7,500 for its “STRIVE Atlanta Financial Opportunity Center” program. The grant awarded will help people with the biggest barriers to employment access the training and support they need to find meaningful careers and achieve upward mobility. Their mission is to provide a pathway to life-changing careers and opportunities through comprehensive professional training, intensive personal support and self-empowerment for those who face societal barriers to advancement.

“STRIVE Atlanta is honored to be a Delta Community grant recipient. This generous funding will allow us to expand our footprint deeper into the community, helping us reach more individuals who seek the financial literacy and planning skills needed to secure economic mobility for themselves and their families,” said Jomal Vailes, Executive Director.

The Delta Community Philanthropic Fund will invest $150,000 throughout 2024 in 20 metro Atlanta non-profit organizations that support the physical and financial needs of people who live within the communities we serve. We’re honored to support such great organizations making a difference in our community!
