Peace doesn’t always look like a big moment. Sometimes, it’s found in a shared smile, a simple conversation, or showing up to serve others.

Whether through art, music, service, or connection we’re reminded that kindness is something we can all experience and give.

In partnership with The Little Guy Foundation and A Better World Inc., International Peace Youth Group, and HWPL Georgia, volunteers came together to pour into the community because giving back is another form of peace.

At just 17, Shamaya didn’t speak from theory she spoke from reality. Standing before leaders, parents, and the community at Atlanta City Hall , she shared what it means to grow up in today’s world to 11 Alive News:

“Youth violence today is now exceedingly bad… the youth didn’t have guns back then.”

Her voice carried more than words it carried urgency, lived experience, and a call for change.

Stay tuned for a recap of the panel discussion. As it was a moment where the next generation stepped forward to be heard.

As the future of youth isn’t something we wait for it’s something we protect, together.

Cities of Peace aren’t just an idea; they’re happening.

In the past year, 5 local governments have stepped in to support youth-led peacebuilding efforts, creating safer, stronger communities with more to come.

We look to the youth the most, what they care
about and how they conduct their operations.
When people are faced with every instinct that
leads to violence vs de-escalation, this is an
opportunity to see how we conduct ourselves
-
HWPL Georgia thanks Rep. Marvin Lim, of Georgia House District 98, for visiting visiting HWPL Georgia Volunteers and Arrow Youth during Peace Day at the Capitol.

He emphazised the importance of the youth and the necessity of reflection on whether one’s actions are leading to violence or de-escalation.

HWPL Georgia provides effective conflict resolution training for teachers and students, and is working towards the adoption of it’s 12 lesson Peace Education training into schools across Georgia. To partner with HWPL Georgia, please reach out to [email protected]!

At Morehouse College’s Heritage Day of Service, HWPL Georgia mobilized with volunteers to serve with purpose. Together, we supported the Mad Housers, whose mission is to help address homelessness by repairing and improving homes for neighbors in need.

The Heritage Day of Service is part of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) Heritage Weekend programming and is hosted at Morehouse College. A day dedicated to community engagement and dialogue that brings together students, community members, and leaders to serve and connect around real community needs and solutions.

A special thank you to

Feb 15, 2026 - At a time when national division and uncertainty continue to shape public discourse, faith leaders and community members across Gwinnett County chose a different response.

HWPL Georgia, in partnership with the Gwinnett Interfaith Alliance and The King Center’s Better Together Initiative, hosted a public unity walk and intercultural dialogue that brought together diverse faith leaders, community advocates, and residents in a visible demonstration of peace in action.

Honorable speakers included:

☪️ Imam Hammad Ahmad of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Norcross

✡️ Rabbi Zev-Hayyim Feyer of the Congregation Bet Haverim

✝️ Pastor Michael Jannett of the Community of Grace Lutherean Church

🕉️ Acharya Ananya Arya of the Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple

Ananya Arya of the Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple reflected on the shared humanity that grounded the gathering, stating, “Caring about human rights means caring about humans. This entire world is one big family.”

For HWPL Georgia, the gathering represents part of a broader strategic effort to institutionalize peace across the state. Through coordinated initiatives in peace education, advocacy, interfaith harmony, youth engagement, and community activation, the organization continues advancing its vision of transforming Georgia from a “Peach State” to a “Peace State.”
