She Served - Celebrating Women Veterans

She Served - Celebrating Women Veterans She Served - A Celebration of Women Veterans Women of all ages, ranks, and levels of authority serve in all branches of the U.S. Military.

Over two million veterans in the United States today are women. Unfortunately, all too often we overlook these women who served alongside men, and much of the public still equates military veterans with men. As a photographer I felt I could contribute in a small way to bring the much-deserved attention to women Veterans, and so, the “She Served” Project was born. She Served is a celebration of mil

itary women – an acknowledgement of everything they accomplished while serving in the military – and recognition of everything they are still accomplishing today. Almost all the women I photograph still have a servant heart and serve their community in one way or another. By creating a portrait that portrays who they are now and sharing a little about these incredible women, I hope to inspire many more people to celebrate women veterans.

✨ Have you seen the latest issue of She Served Magazine?

There is something powerful about seeing women veterans' stories preserved, shared, and celebrated. Every page reflects the courage, resilience, and camaraderie that connect us across generations, branches, and experiences.

In this video, She Served CEO Martina Schmidt gets a first look at our newest edition, dedicated to honoring the legacy of military women and the bonds that continue long after service ends.

As women veterans, we know that service takes many forms. Some led troops, some cared for families while supporting military missions, some served behind the scenes, and some broke barriers that made opportunities possible for those who followed. Every story matters.

That is why She Served exists: to honor women who served, amplify their voices, and strengthen the connections that help our community thrive.

Whether you're a woman veteran, military spouse, family member, or ally, we invite you to take a look and celebrate the remarkable women featured in this edition.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion will never be forgotten.

At the She Served Initiative, we also hold space for the families who carry the memories of those lost — whose lives were forever changed. Memorial Day is a sacred reminder that freedom has always come at a cost.

Today, we remember the fallen.
We honor their legacy.
And we commit ourselves to living with gratitude, purpose, and compassion.

Please take a moment today to reflect, remember, and share the name or story of someone who served and sacrificed. 🇺🇸

Day 1 at Hope 4 Veterans was all about connection, and what an incredible start it was! We were surrounded by an amazing group of women veterans who showed up, shared their stories, and brought so much creativity and inspiration. From cyclists and authors to chiropractors and nonprofit leaders, the talent and passion in the room was truly inspiring.
We had meaningful conversations, lots of laughter, and an unforgettable first day together. If today was any indication, tomorrow is going to be something special.
A huge thank you to Lynn M Geiser making this event such a success! Looking forward to seeing what Day 2 brings. 💙🇺🇸 Thank you to and for providing the event space 🙏

Behind the beautiful pages of She Served is the extraordinary talent of graphic designer Kimberly Mortson. Hailing from Detroit, Kimberly has been part of the She Served Initiative since day one, helping shape the visual identity of the magazine with creativity, heart, and exceptional attention to detail.

As the designer responsible for bringing our stories to life visually, Kimberly has an incredible ability to transform magazine content into something both meaningful and visually stunning. Her creative touch can be seen in every carefully designed page, layout, and feature — all crafted to honor the women veterans whose stories deserve to be told and remembered.

Kimberly is also the owner of Small Moments Invitation + Design (https://www.smallmomentsdesign.com), where she creates unique invitations, announcements, holiday cards, logos, and custom designs that celebrate life’s meaningful moments. Her work reflects both elegance and originality, making every project feel deeply personal.

In addition to her professional work, Kimberly generously volunteers her design talents with Operation Shower (https://www.operationshower.org), a nonprofit organization that hosts baby showers for military families across the country. Her commitment to serving military communities through creativity perfectly reflects the heart of the She Served Initiative.

We are beyond fortunate to have such a gifted designer, storyteller, and supporter on our team. Kimberly’s creativity, dedication, and passion continue to help make She Served not only informative, but truly beautiful.
