Fellas, here’s a simple thought for today — especially on a day when many of us are reflecting, resting, or spending time with family.
A lot of damage in marriage does not happen because a husband sat down and planned to hurt his wife.
Sometimes it happens because he responded too fast.
He answered while angry.
He spoke while irritated.
He reacted while feeling disrespected.
He made a decision before praying.
That is why the pause matters.
A short pause can keep you from saying something you have to apologize for later.
A short prayer can help you respond with wisdom instead of emotion.
A moment with God can help you remember that your wife is not your enemy, and your marriage is not just another problem to manage.
As husbands, part of living as a man on mission in marriage and everyday life is learning how to let God lead our response before our flesh takes over.
Today’s challenge:
Before you respond to something that frustrates you, pause and pray this simple prayer:
“Lord, help me respond in a way that honors You and protects my marriage.”
That one pause may not fix everything, but it can keep you from making things worse.
