National average residential electricity costs have risen by roughly 37% to 40% since 2020/2021, reaching an average of about 18.44 to 18.83 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

It's about the quality of the water... and controlling the benefits, costs, and potentially damaging impacts, including flooding, drought, sea-level rise, increasingly severe weather, and tidal action, among others.

What is Water Justice and Water Equity and why is this so important to our community?

Water Justice is the ethical principle that all people, regardless of income, race, or location, have the fundamental right to safe, sufficient, clean, affordable water. It addresses systemic inequalities in water allocation and infrastructure.

Achieving it requires democratizing water governance, empowering marginalized communities, and prioritizing human needs over corporate or unchecked industrial uses.

Water Equity ensures every community—regardless of race, income, or social standing—has access to clean, safe, and affordable water. It matters because climate risks and aging infrastructure disproportionately harm marginalized groups, while safe water is fundamental for public health, economic prosperity, and overall community resilience.

The Climate and Energy Resilience Campaign and Town Hall is a community-focused multi-day education, awareness, community engagement, and action series of events designed to create a movement and empower residents across the city and region toward fair access to clean, affordable, efficient energy resources and meaningful engagement in our energy system design and deployment, while addressing climate impacts

These events bring together residents, advocates, activists, scientists, government and elected officials, researchers, and experts to discuss issues like rising utility bills, pollution in frontline communities, local climate impacts and mitigation, and to plan for a fair transition to clean energy.

The Rally for Resilience event will be a fun, interactive forum for all ages to learn more about weather, climate, emergency preparedness, careers.

Clean Air is A Right..Not An Option!

Climate Justice Now!!

Yesterday ' s worsening air pollution in our country as a stark reminder of why our clean air related initiatives like Community Clean Air Corps, Metro Atlanta Ai Pollution Project, and Breathe Better Portsmouth and Advance Atmospheric Research and Monitoring Station are so important.

Chicago experienced the worse air quality on thé entire planet on yesterday based in large part due to smoke from wildfires that originated in Canada.

I was in Chicago on yesterday July 16th and witnessed first hand the hazardous conditions that workers and residents faced especially those with existing disproportionate respiratory conditions like asthma encountered.

These were extreme conditions requiring the Mayor of Chicago to issue an alert and to curtail certains operations, work tasks, etc. The situation was dire , real and critical and warranted special actions and precautions.

As such we all collectively should be vigilant in our work and tasks related to our core mission; advancing our clean air projects at all levels especially our education and outreach, network expansion, hubs of resilience, data collection and analysis among others.

Note Ironically I was in Chicago to attend the NAACP Energy and Climate Justice Conference with a tour of the Obama Presidential Center.which included the Mayor of Chicago, President/ CEO NAACP among others
