The Schreiber Family was our 2026 Ears of Honor recipient. Brandon Schreiber's end of watch was September 11, 2024 after suffering gunshot wounds during a police chase that occurred on September 01, 2024. He was a hero to many and donated organs that helped save and create a better quality of life for many.

Brandon was survived by his wife and two young children. After his passing his wife was so touched by the support and love of her community that she was drawn to give back and help protect the community that wrapped their arms around her family. She has since become a reserve Deputy for the very same department her husband was with at the time of his tragedy. To us, that shows amazing strength.

"This trip was definitely amazing! Having my mom and my sister with us made it even more fun! I truly never thought I’d ever go to Disney. First Responders Family Foundation made it possible and set us up with a trip of a life time. I’m beyond thankful for them. They truly did amazing things for us and made this trip the best ever! P is now excited to see Mickey again one day. Even though she wasn’t so sure about him the first time. lol. G was such a trooper with the long days and had so much fun. Animal kingdom I feel was his absolute favorite! Mine too!
Everything this foundation has done for the kids and I was remarkable and so magical! This was always something Brandon and I had talked about doing with the kids one day and the foundation made our dreams come true. It took us 2 flights there and 2 back and the kids did Fantastic! Provided transportation to and from the resort, tickets, lighting lanes, photo pass and so much more. I’m seriously just so grateful for them! It’s hard to put into words how much this trip really meant to us. So much joy and happiness came from our trip and memories to last a life time. Huge thank you to Jesseppe Myers and his wife Dawn Myers for meeting us down there and being there for the questions and guidance through the parks. We couldn’t have done this without you guys!!"

On Christmas Eve 2024, we had the absolute honor of surprising the family of Officer Dustin DeMonte with an all-expenses-paid healing trip to Disney World. Officer DeMonte lost his life in the line of duty on October 12, 2022, leaving behind his wife, Laura, and their three children. With the help of Because of the Brave, we were able to make this an unforgettable holiday for a truly deserving family. As the first recipients of our Ears of Honor program, their trip marked a meaningful beginning to our mission of bringing hope and healing to families of fallen heroes.

Deputy Nicolas Blane Dixon, age 28, served with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and was tragically killed in the line of duty on July 7, 2019. For 30 years, his family took a cherished beach trip every year. After his passing, they couldn't bring themselves to return in 2020.

When they shared this with us, we knew it was time to help. In 2023, our foundation facilitated a healing trip to Tybee Island. It wasn’t their usual destination—but it became a turning point. A chance to reflect, reconnect, and feel the peace that only the ocean can bring.

Behind every badge was a husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, or friend. And when they gave their lives in service to others, their families made a sacrifice too—one that continues long after the uniform is gone.

The First Responders Family Foundation exists to stand beside those families, honor the legacy of their loved ones, and remind them that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
