β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š Today, we honor Juneteenthβ€”a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice.

As we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, we also recognize the importance of creating communities where everyone belongs, including people with disabilities. True inclusion means ensuring that all voices are heard, all experiences are valued, and all people have equal access to opportunities, resources, and self-determination.

At Parent to Parent of Georgia, we celebrate the strength and contributions of Black individuals with disabilities, their families, advocates, and communities. Together, we continue working toward a future where equity, accessibility, and belonging are realities for all.

Happy Juneteenth.

🌈 Happy Autistic Pride Day! 🌈

Today, we celebrate autistic individuals for who they areβ€”their unique perspectives, strengths, talents, and contributions to our communities. Autistic Pride Day is an opportunity to promote acceptance, inclusion, self-advocacy, and respect for neurodiversity.

Let's continue working toward a world where autistic people are valued, supported, and empowered to be their authentic selves.

πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ’š Pride in being autistic. Pride in neurodiversity. Pride in belonging.

Dear P2P Families,

This afternoon, the U.S. Department of Education formally announced an interagency agreement to transfer the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Office for Civil Rights to the Department of Justice.

We know this news may feel unsettling. When systems change, it is natural to have questions about what it means for your child, your family, and the supports you depend on.

As Georgia’s federally designated Parent Training and Information Center, Parent to Parent of Georgia (P2P) is here to help families navigate moments like this with clear, reliable information.

At this time, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, commonly known as IDEA, remains in effect. The rights and protections available to children with disabilities and their families have not changed.

As families prepare for the upcoming school year, we encourage you to continue participating in IEP meetings, requesting evaluations, asking questions, documenting concerns, and using the special education processes available to you under the law.

Although we do not yet know what these federal changes will look like in practice, our role remains the same. P2P will continue sharing timely information, answering questions, and helping families across the state navigate special education, disability services, and available supports.

If you need help navigating special education or have questions about disability services, P2P remains a steady and trusted resource for you. We are here for Georgia families, and our work continues.

To learn more about P2PGA’s mission and services, call us at 770-451-5484 or visit www.p2pga.org.
