As of today in Georgia’s law, the only requirement for a single mother to be deemed the “Legal mother” is for her to be the biological mother of the child whereas a single father has to request permission from the Court to be deemed the “Legal father”.

We have been to so many child support hearings… And the outcomes of these hearings tends to be the same.

The courts do not consider the basic subsistence needs of fathers paying child support! They only want to know how much he makes.

They don’t care about how much that father’s rent or mortgage is, about his car payment, about whether or not he can afford health insurance, or about whether or not he will be able to afford his own apartment or home after making his child support payment.

This is completely unfair and we are fighting every day to change this!

Under Georgia law, if a child is born to a woman who is married, the law presumes that the father of the child is the husband. The law considers what is in the best interest of the child...

But we don’t live in a perfect world and sometimes, and for many possible reasons, children are born from a dad that’s not the husband at the time.

If you’re the father to a baby whose mom is married to another man, it is crucial that you take action immediately. Otherwise, the court may refuse to give you rights to be in the life of the child!

Never stop fighting to be a part in your children’s life!

The only requirement for a mother to be deemed the “Legal mother” is for her to be the biological mother of the child, whereas the father needs to legitimate the child as provided in Code Section 19-7-22.

Tell us, is this fair? That a dad might be restrained from seeing his kid only because he was not married to the baby's mother?
