We appreciate the outpour of love and support we have received throughout this week. As you can imagine this in no way has been an easy process. Recovery will continue to be a challenge, but we will continue to choose to fight each day. We have received many questions about updates and ways to help which has brought us to creating this page.

We are ever so grateful for NYU Langone Hospital and their transplant team. Traveling from Georgia to NYC has required significant expenses for travel, local transportation, lodging, and meals. Despite our best efforts to manage the financial impact, the costs continue to mount.

As far as an update on the success of the surgery we seem to be on the right track. There were some complications during the procedure, but it was nothing the medical staff could not handle. Vitals are stable and we are even seeing some early signs of kidney function! We are taking the precautions necessary to give the proper support throughout this recovery process. This journey will not be easy and will require at least one month of stay in the NYU hospital. We will keep you updated as much as we can.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion. Your support and prayers mean more than words can express. We are grateful for any assistance you can provide.

With Love,

The Argueta Family

On October 15, 1998, I received a kidney from my wife Catalina Argueta. At the time I was 22 years old, I am 45 years old now. In the past 23 years, we had two wonderful children (Arisah & Daniel) that I am very proud of. I’ve been able to see many dreams come true. I have seen my children reach several milestones. Enjoyed eating great meals with friends. Woken up to the woman of my dreams everyday! Treasured the honor of being a Pastor, had the joy of being a teacher, the pride of coaching my kids. I laughed until I fainted, cried until there were no more tears. We’ve traveled and made memories with our families.

By the Grace of God, and only by His Grace am I here today, but I would be a fool to not realize that through you He has allowed me these blessings!

Today and everyday, I honor your brave and selfless action to love me unconditionally. I am forever grateful!

You not only created the world I have today, you are my world!
My Love!

We received the result for Arisah's tests, although she was not a match I am grateful for her willingness to go through the process to see if she qualifies for the Swap Program. Emory University is part of a Nation Wide partnership to find others who did not match their donors but could be a match for someone else.. They then Swap the donors. Providing a transplant at the same time for two people. We are strong and trusting! Thank you all!

I would like to request your support in prayer. On Thursday night Leyner had to be rushed to the hospital. He had an outpatient surgery earlier that day to revise his PD catheter. Unfortunately he lost too much blood, and his blood pressure dropped to 70/40. He has received 4 blood transfusions since, and he is doing better. The challenge is that his PD catheter is not working, and the Doctors are trying to come up with a more permanent solution for his dialysis. He has a very complicated situation due to his major veins being occluded. Please pray that they will come up with a solution for his difficult situation.

Our Story

Just going about his everyday life in 1997, my father experienced sudden shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital. Once he got to the hospital, he received the heart-rending news that he had complete and total kidney failure. This was a result of a rare disease he had called MPGN.

Until that moment he was entirely unaware of the disease. He informed his family and my mother (who was his fiance at the time) of the news. My mother immediately rose to action and got tested to be a kidney donor. My father went in and out of dialysis centers for an entire year. In 1998 my parents got married and received the good news that my mother was a compatible kidney match. Later that year, things continued to fall into place and the transplant was successful.

The kidney lasted for six amazing years. My parents experienced many joys in life, as well as bringing new life into the world. I was born in 2000 and my brother was born in 2004. While my mother was pregnant with my brother, my father had a recurrence of MPGN on the transplanted kidney. At that time my father returned to dialysis and has been on the kidney transplant list for fifteen years.

After doing home hemodialysis for over ten years, he has encountered multiple difficulties. He has reached the point where his veins can no longer support this form of treatment. At this point we are really running out of options, the best plan would be a kidney transplant. We have had around a hundred people throughout the years get tested to see if they are a match. Being a match is a numbers game, but we have faith that there is someone out there that will match. You can see if you are a match by visiting
