Memorial plans have been announced for Dexter King, an American civil and animal rights activist, attorney, and author. The second son of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, he was also the brother of Martin Luther King III, Bernice King, and Yolanda King; and also grandson of Alberta Williams King and Martin Luther King Sr. He is the author of Growing Up King: An Intimate Memoir.

A service is planned, fittingly, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, the place his family has called their spiritual home for more than a century. The King Center in Atlanta said Dexter Scott King died Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at his California home after battling prostate cancer.

The service for Dexter Scott King, will be held on Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The King family announced that the event will be open to the public and livestreamed through The King Center.
The memorial service marking the life and passing of Dexter Scott King will be held, fittingly, at the place his family has called their spiritual home for more than a century.

Ebenezer Baptist Church will host what they are calling a “candlelight musical experience,” to honor King, who died Jan. 22.
