Please see update on Everly:
I have not posted an update on Everly in a while, but we could use some prayers again.
On May 18th, we went for a follow-up appointment at CHOA, just like we have been doing since after her surgery in March. This consisted of an ultrasound that morning, and meeting with her oncologist that afternoon. When meeting with her oncologist, she said the ultrasound from that morning showed the tumor on Everly’s adrenal gland has shrunk by itself, but now she has 5-8 spots on her liver. They staged it as MS. Stage MS in Neuroblastoma is characterized by the one tumor (in this case the one on her adrenal gland) being confined to one area, but some cells spread to the liver, skin, or bone marrow. So, in the next couple weeks she has multiple appointments. On the 22nd, she has another ultrasound to see if the spots on her liver have shrunk by themselves or if they have enlarged. We are also going to see if the tumor on her adrenal gland is continuing to shrink on its own. On this same day, we have 2 other appointments to see her regular oncologist, and another oncologist that we see occasionally. On July 1st, Everly will have another bone marrow biopsy to check if the cancer has spread to her bone marrow. She had a bone marrow biopsy back in March when she had surgery, but this one will be an outpatient procedure. This mama is nervous about my baby being put to sleep for the third time.
If you have seen Everly, she is the happiest girl and shows no signs of cancer. She loves to talk, read books, play with her toys, watch the ceiling fans, go for walks, bath time, and so much more. It hurts my heart to see her go through all this at such a young age, but I am thankful we found her cancer sooner than too late and are able to stay on top of it.
And to top it off, she has a nasty ear infection. She is on antibiotics now and we go for a follow up appointment with her Pediatrician today to see if they are working.
With all this being said, pray for us. We have a lot going on.
