The 2021/2022 Season, qualifying for the 2022 Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation State Classic starts this month! Here is the schedule of tournament dates. March the 13th we kick it off at Lake Wedowee followed by our two day at Lake Eufaula that never fails to be a great time.

2021 standings will be posted shortly and will come as little surprise as to AOY. Top 2 had a good run for the last several months with a battle of the brothers.

While 2020 lacked in Facebook updates, we continued to fish and weigh in our catches throughout the year. We weren't physically as close as normal but the club and the great group of fellas involved, for me at least, was a critical piece of normal life in a year where so much changed. Looking forward to another season of fishing, friendships and learning with the great group of fishermen.

B.A.S.S season 2021 Eufaula two day was a blast. For some of us it was the first time we'd been away from the house for more than an hour at a time and others it was a relaxing escape from important first responder work. We were, however, able to keep plenty far away from each other, even at the ramp on Saturday morning that had another fairly large tournament launching.
Rusty Austin put together two consistent 12lb bags for the win with 25.46lbs. Matt McKenzie was close behind in second, also with two 12lb bags for 24.8lbs. Daniel Herrmann came in third, again with some consistency with two days of 10lbs bags totaling 20.82lbs.
Day 1 Ryan Rakestraw had the biggest bag at 14.12lbs and day 2 Jeff Austin with the biggest bag of the tournament at 15.24lbs and the day 2 big fish at 4.92lbs. Jeff McKenzie, who's been taking everyone's big fish money the majority of the time, took day big fish with 4.48lbs. Jeff Austin gets the big fish points for day 2, but unfortunately lost the big fish pot to Jake Andrews, a prospective member guest who had a 5.22!
Top 3 anglers from last year picked the next 3 lakes for May, June and July. Guntersville, Logan Martin and Neely Henry.

The 2021 season kicked off at Weiss on Saturday. We got a break from the rain and the sun even reminded us what it looks like. We got a few other reminders as well. Reminder number 2 - Fishing is a humbling sport. 2020 AOY and runner up brought in a combined total of one fish. Two of the club's most consistent fishermen. Reminder number 3 - 2018 AOY still knows how to bring it. Ryan Rakestraw finished first with 14.1 pounds (Yes, that nearly doubles second place) with some FAT Coosa spots including the big fish of 4.12. Matt Mckenzie came in second with 7.56 and John Eason in third with 5.06. This is John's second, recent (although last season), top 3 finish as a co-boater.

Next up, Eufaula. Two days of fishing and only a small gathering of people together when we're not on the water distancing ourselves socially.

I'd like to congratulate Jeff Austin for AOY of the 2020 season. The neck and neck race between him and Jeff Mckenzie gave him the victory by only .43 points. Matt Mckenzie in his first season with the club rounds out the top 3 for the club's boating team to the Classic at Seminole in October.

The 2020 Sprint season was interesting. It included a lot of close competition from not only the club's most consistent fishermen at the top but also in the race for top 6 to go the State BASS Nation Classic.

March starts the new season on the 14th at Weiss followed by the season 2 day at Eufaula April 18th and 19th!

Allatoona was at least 11 feet above summer pool with the flood gates open on Saturday for the Sprint season closer. Overall standings for the top 4 were incredibly close with only a 5 point difference making this tournament high stakes for AOY. Our last trip to Allatoona included 5 fish limits for ALL members. This was much different. For the most parts, areas that normally held fish were vacant. Some bluff walls still held fish, but the key may have been for this particular tournament, may have been parking lots. Matt Mckenzie brought in four fish for 4lbs 1 oz finishing in 3rd just behind his not so old man Jeff Mckenzie who had five fish for 5lbs 11oz. Jeff Austin found the right parking lots bringing in his five fish weighin 6lbs 5oz for first place. Previously Jeff Mckenzie had been in first followed closely by Jeff Austin and coupled with these incredible close weights left some doubt for AOY. More to come.
Jerry Stephens brought in the big fish of the day at 2lbs 5oz.

Wedowee water level was high and incredibly stained after the recent weather. We fished and had a pretty decent day despite the cold, wet and dirty water conditions. We all enjoyed some beautiful weather at the weigh in, though.
Jeff Mckenzie brought in a 10lb+ bag with nearly 5lb big fish of the day. Jeff Austin came in second a little over a pound behind with just over 9lbs and Jerry Stephens in third about a pound behind that. Van Arnold in 4th is worth the mention bringing in two thick spots for 6.3lbs.
The season ends in two weeks after Allatoona with the AOY race VERY tight between the top 4 anglers, Jeff Mckenzie, Jeff Austin, Rusty Austin and Matt Mckenzie. It's going to be a family showdown. Who will play it safe and stay on the spots? A bag of largemouths may be the ticket to AOY.
