Envision Athens Launched in May 2018, the Action Agenda is a blueprint for our collective way forward.

Envision Athens is a movement, created to bring together community input and targeted analysis for the purpose of leading Athens forward into its most optimal future. Envision Athens is a community-wide effort to develop a common vision for the future of the Athens-Clarke County community. This process will result in a visionary, yet achievable multidimensional strategy to guide community and econ

omic development for the next 20 years. In doing so, a shared sense of accountability and commitment to implementation will be achieved—this will not be “just another plan.” Envision Athens will be open and inclusive, intuitive and informed, and carefully-designed and facilitated.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITY: Residents are invited to provide general feedback on the exterior and interior design of the new Judicial Center, which will be located at 120 W. Dougherty Street in downtown Athens.

An open-ended comment form, along with several design images for reference, is available at www.accgov.com/judicialcenter through Sunday, August 9. We are particularly interested in feedback related to the exterior appearance of the building and interior public gathering spaces, as well as any guiding principles that you feel should be incorporated into the design process.

Online comments and the in-person input that was received at a public meeting held at the site on June 30, 2026 will help inform the design team as the project moves forward.

A stable home is the foundation for opportunity, health, and strong communities.

That's why Community Solutions is celebrating the passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.

This bipartisan legislation will help communities expand housing options, modernize federal housing programs, and reduce barriers to building the homes people need.

More housing means:

👩‍🏫 More nurses, teachers, and essential workers able to live in the communities they serve.
🤝 More tools for communities working to make homelessness rare and brief.

ACCGov's Capital Projects Department, with assistance from the Athens-Clarke County Housing & Community Development Department, announces the availability of ~$2.7 million in SPLOST funding for support of affordable housing development projects by eligible non-profit organizations and private developers.

Eligible activities include construction of public infrastructure (e.g., public roads, public sidewalks, water lines, sewer lines, and stormwater facilities) in support of affordable housing development.

The Request for Proposals will be open June 23 to July 24, 2026. Proposals can range from $1 million to $2.7 million, and entities can submit multiple projects for consideration.

Capital Projects will host a virtual meeting to explain how eligible developers can access these local funds.
