We ended our Kate Love Simpson Library summer music lecture series with a presentation about Music and The Brain by Lily Chongswatdi. Lily shared the impact of music on emotions, brain function, and mental wellness. A highlight of the presentation was demonstrating the importance of ensemble playing by giving audience members percussion instruments to play along with!

Thank you to everyone who came to see us yesterday at the Parkersburg & Wood County Public Library! We enjoyed seeing some familiar faces as meeting some new ones while exploring different genres of music through a Piano Trio together! Join us for our last Kate Love Simpson Library summer series presentation: Music and Your Brain! This presentation will explore the relationship between music and the human brain. How does the brain process sounds? How do these sounds trigger emotions? What are the benefits of playing an instruments and listening to live music? Learn the answers to these questions and more on August 21 at 5pm!

This lecture performance will be presented by Ohio University cellist Lily Chongswatdi. Lily is the founder and director of the Appalachian String Initiative and has worked with the Arco Strings program for the past year.
