Boots on the Trail Boots on the Trail is a veterans nonprofit focused on providing FREE Ecotherapy for Veterans.

We do this by performing trail maintenance in state and national forest & parks. This involves clearing brush, trees and trash off of the trail every two weeks.

Another great day of veterans coming together, getting out on the trail, putting in some work, sharing some laughs, and enjoying the camaraderie that makes Boots on the Trail what it is.

We’re always glad to see everyone who can make it out, and there’s always room for more. Whether you’ve been with us before or you’re just hearing about Boots on the Trail for the first time, come check us out and see what we’re all about.

Join Boots on the Trail for our next work day out on the trail. Bring your gloves, bring your energy — we'll be clearing brush, cutting back overgrowth, and putting in honest work alongside fellow veterans.

Trail Sunday Recap: Wild Turkey Trail & Lost Marbles Trail

Another great one in the books! 6 veterans came out this weekend to work Wild Turkey Trail and Lost Marbles Trail, putting in solid effort despite the heat — a warm one out there, but that never stops this crew.

Big thanks to everyone who showed up. Whether it's your first Trail Sunday or your fiftieth, this work matters — for the trail, and for each other.

More miles cleared, more time outdoors, more time together. That's what it's all about.

See you for the next one in two weeks. We will be meeting at the Chauncey Trailhead of the Baileys Trail System.

Boots on the Trail — Athens Area Stand Down

Boots on the Trail would like to share information about the 11th Annual Athens Area Stand Down, taking place Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10 AM–2 PM at the Athens County Fairgrounds, 286 W. Union Street, Athens, Ohio.

This free event provides food, clothing, personal care items, and information about available resources for veterans and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

10 AM–12 PM: Veterans Only — proof of military service required
12 PM–2 PM: Open to the Public

Services and information will also be available regarding healthcare, housing solutions, employment, substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, and other essential resources.

If you are a veteran or know someone who could benefit from these resources, please share this information and help spread the word.

Our next Trail Sunday event will be on September 6th, 2026. We will be meeting at the Baileys Trail System Chauncey Trailhead at around 12:30 to fuel up on some BOTT Bites and Coffee. After that we will be going out to Wild Turkey Trail, and performing some needed trail maintenance. If you are a veteran, active duty, guard or reserve we hope to see you out there.

On Sunday Boots on the Trail finished up our Trash pickup on Mayapple Mayhem. We had 8 veterans out from 4 different branches of the military. Judging from some of the bottles, we picked up probably 40-50 years worth of trash from the area.
