They’re very curious about their new digs! Anarchy will still sleep in his heated carrier (Molly is a little too violent to leave them alone together overnight, she’s a little turd) but they get supervised playtime while I work.

Also, Anarchy is DEFINITELY a boy. Oop. His legs won’t need any binding, though- they’ve stretched out on their own and he walks just fine! Wobbly, but fine.

ALSO, Robin and Falcon were adopted yesterday! Unfortunately, though, Biscuit and Gravy were returned for fighting with the adopter’s previous cat. PLEASE remember, cats aren’t tiny people. They are animals. Slow introductions are key, and it doesn’t take hours or days- it can take weeks. Please be very patient with them. Remember the 3-3-3 rule - 3 DAYS to decompress, 3 WEEKS to adjust and learn your routine, 3 MONTHS to start to feel at home. Introducing cats too quickly can absolutely lead to fights. They don’t know what’s going on. Please give them time.

Does anyone near Athens have an acrylic playpen to donate or that we can borrow for a few weeks? Mine broke when I moved. We have one on the wishlist but it does NOT have to be new.

They are nice because the kittens can’t climb them but they can clearly see and interact with the other cats and it feels less like a prison than a kennel or the pop up playpens.

Okay, Fennel has had his vet visit. Definitely wasn’t what I expected. Bones? Fine. Swelling? More extensive than I thought.
He’s got cellulitis, but no obvious wound or anything… but you know what we’ve been fighting for the past couple months? BROWN WIDOW INFESTATION. It’s been the porch, the side of the house, behind the house. There are black widows, too- which makes no sense to me bc I thought they ate each other??? It’s been a not fun battle.
He’s indoors only of course, but we’ve found a couple in the house, so it’s highly possible one got in the back too. So yeah, our current best functioning guess is spider bite for a possible cause. I super don’t love THAT.

So. Anyways. He had cold laser therapy, antibiotic shot, and take home pred & gaba. Just have to monitor and hope it gets better. Fortunately there was no marked change overnight, no rapid progression of anything, and he’s still being himself- aka ALL UP IN MY BUSINESS, purring.

It has been a heck of a month, in and out of the vet’s office with the babies. The last visit was last week for Anarchy’s bladder infection. He’s doing a lot better, the antibiotics are working. When I went out to the office to feed Fennel and Zuzu this morning, Fennel was limping a bit and one of his legs was swollen, so we’ll be going back to the vet probably tomorrow (Sunday means urgent care and it doesn’t seem emergent) & likely that means more x-rays. Any extra income we can scrounge together this month would be SUPER helpful. The current Care Credit balance is back up to $1,610 .

I got us our own storefront at oddpaws.shop so my husband doesn’t have to keep selling our stuff on his band page. We have keychains, pins, patches, and 4x6/5x7 prints of my photography work, both matted and unmatted. Any orders before the 13th will ship out right away!

Blinkin is our blind cat. He has bilateral micropthalmia- he was born with essentially no (functioning) eyeballs. He was dumped in the parking lot of a friend’s antique shop when he was barely 6 weeks old. People know she cares for cats and they just dump animals on her property. Can you imagine the soullessness it must have taken to not only abandon a young kitten, but a kitten with NO EYES? In a parking lot? Alone? He was so scared. I hope they never know another moment of peace.
Anyways, he’s my baby now. There’s a lot of stigma surrounding blind cats and they are THE HARDEST to adopt out- far beyond deformities or missing limbs or deaf or wobbly. Blind. We have a blind cat that has been with us for a year now, Muenster, with ONE application that didn’t work out. That’s it.

Blind cats are JUST like any other cat. They get around great, they run, they jump, they play. Literally the only things I do for him- not because he needs it, but because it makes him more comfortable- are making sure to always set him down somewhere identifiable when I pick him up, a surface he knows like the cat tree or a couch, so he can orient himself, and rub my fingers together so he knows when I’m going to touch him or pick him up and he isn’t startled. That’s literally it. They’ll take longer adjusting to new environments, but as with any cat, you should introduce change slowly anyways. Start them in a carrier/kennel, then a small room, then slowly expand their world as they get comfortable with it.

Blind cats are perfectly fine. Don’t let what you perceive to be a limitation make you hesitant to give them a chance. 💜🙏

Hello new friends! SO many new people on the side of things. I just wanted to post here specifically to let you know that FB is NOT monitored- I post on Instagram and it shares on here. I check things when I can, but we are a really really small rescue and 95% of the work is done by just me, one person, on top of my normal work that pays our bills. If you want to support us, one of the best ways to do so is on our Ko-Fi- it's like a Patreon, but all public. I very rarely remember to update there, so posts are sporadic, but it all goes to the rescue and I post everything on the Instagram and by default here! We also have a little shop- oddpaws.shop . Currently we have keychains, pins, and patches.

Also I am sorry to those that have been filling my inboxes with requests, but we do NOT do public intakes whatsoever. We are not a public shelter. I am one person taking care of special needs animals specifically, paying for their care out of my pocket, and all non-special needs cats that we have at Pet Supplies Plus come from the shelters we work with. I pull from shelters in smaller counties that have less support and resources. I cannot take the cats you're surrendering because you're moving, or the litter of kittens from your backyard. I know social media makes it look like we have some huge team, but we're just one tired, overworked goth (me), her tired, overworked husband, and a handful of our friends fostering. We currently have TEN forever cats, two snakes, two tarantulas, two bottle baby kittens, and two adult foster cats in my office. I have nowhere to *put* anyone else, and our fosters are all full.

Thank you SO much for joining us here, and I cannot express how much I appreciate you. Without social media and the generous support we've received from a ton of internet strangers, we couldn't do this at all.
