P.E.O. Through membership, the P.E.O. P.E.O.

(Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women helping women reach for the stars for more than 150 years. Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 122,000* women pursue educational goals by providing nearly $415 million* in grants, scholarships, awards and loans. The Sisterhood also owns and supports Cottey College. Sisterhood has brought to

gether more than a half a million women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education, while supporting and motivating them. In addition to the educational philanthropies, the P.E.O. Sisterhood provides a framework of support and community for all members. What started with a bond of friendship among seven women in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is now one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America with approximately 5,600 chapters.

We are thrilled that our nominee, Emma Lucas, received a $2,500 P.E.O. International STAR Scholarship, as well as an Ohio Scholarship from P.E.O. Ohio State Chapter. Emma, a 2024 Federal Hocking graduate, will attend Ohio Univeristy in the fall. We look forward to following the career of this outstanding young woman.

Emma Lucas, a senior at Federal Hocking High School, was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter G of Athens.

Yard Sale for Scholarships!

P. E. O. Chapter G of Athens will be having a yard sale Friday, October 6 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 7 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 11711 Channingway Blvd, The Plains. This is just across the street from The Plains Community Park, site of The Plains Indian Mound Festival this weekend.

All proceeds from this yard sale will go to P. E. O. scholarships, grants, awards, and loans for women. P. E. O. is a philanthropic educational organization of women, by women, and for women and has given over $415 million in financial assistance to more than 122,000 recipients.
