In driving around the country this spring I have noticed several American flags that need to be replaced. Our VFW and American Legion Post in Athens supplies A & L  oil with very good American made 3 x 5 American flags. Fly your new flag proudly.

WOW,

VFW member Dale Schaetzl recently heard that a friend of his from the past (Guy & Marlene Schlegel) had donated money for an American flag to fly over the square in Athens.
Well, not to be outdone, Dale said that if Guy could donate,he could as well.
And he did exactly that.

Our annual Veteran and Auxiliary dinner was held Saturday November 12th at Country Aire. Our Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen award winners gave their speeches.

But, the presentation on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight given by Roxy Erickson took the show. I’m sure some tears were shed!

She was presented $1000.00 checks from both VFW Post 8527 and American Legion Post #4.

Yes it was a chilly Veterans Day,but the warm appreciation to our Veterans by the students,faculty of Athens’s schools as well as the citizens of Athens made it warm for all.
The students of St Anthonys ,Trinity Lutheran,Athens Public middle school,and Athens high school were the best.
Their little paper art and handshakes meant so much more than you know.
