Paul The Cat Guy

Paul The Cat Guy Saving and improving the lives of homeless cats and kittens in NYC. Then one can turned into two, then four, then six each night. That was in August 2014.

It began by feeding a single can of cat food to a couple of cats by a set of co-op buildings in Astoria, Queens. Before I knew it, I was caretaking a colony of cats and that is how I began my quest. Wanting to do something to help them, within a few months I began Trap-Neuter-Return of those cats along with rescuing a litter of four kittens from one of the females I was feeding. Since then, I have

been actively responding to reports of kittens in alleyways, colonies of unfixed cats in back yards, homeless friendly cats, and other cat-related situations. Since August 2014 I have directly saved or improved the lives of over 5000 cats and kittens through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), kitten rescue and adoptions, and the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of thrown out and abandoned adult cats. Indirectly I have helped many, many more through personal assistance and education. Tax deductible donations can be made via PayPal: www.paypal.me/paulthecatguyinc

WHO'S A LAPCAT?

SPARROW!

This is the same cat who took me almost 3 days of setting traps to get out of a 99 cent store. The same cat who the employees of the store refused to touch, just give her food and have her close by. It is amazing to see the turnaround. Before the 99 cent store she apparently was a housecat and her owner couldn't or didn't want to take care of her anymore. Looks like she's going back to her former self.

I have an amazing foster who stepped up when I needed it the most. She has had nothing but good things to report this week.

I would say that it's safe to say that SPARROW is now ready for adoption.

She is about two years old, now spayed and fully vetted.

I am looking for an amazing adopter who lives in the NYC area. SPARROW would thrive in a calm apartment where either a single or a couple could play with her before and after work and have some extra playtime on the weekends.

SPARROW'S ready to fly!

CATS SCATTERED

Quick background: In 2022 I was notified of a known feeder-breeder who let her cats in and out of her home, giving birth in and out of her home, and populating the rest of the street with cats.

I spent many sleepless nights tiptoeing around on this quiet street, setting traps up and down the block, snatching kittens meandering from her driveway, and finding random friendlies. It was a known breeding ground, some ferals and some friendlies, causing issues with a lot of the neighbors.

After the first dozen cats were trapped or rescued I was contacted by a resident on that street and invited to set traps in their yard. Cats were going all over the block and snatching meals at random houses. Another 15 cats or so were trapped, some feral and some friendly.

The hoarder always refused help by people and I figured it was more effective for me to just street clean whoever was out and about.

Now in 2026 the hoarder's home caught fire and burned up a total of three houses on that block. The house is condemned and more cats are now wandering looking for food.

I recently TNR'd 3 cats and rescued two very sick kittens there. This friendly guy is one of many noneartipped cats still out there. I need at least 3 adult cat adoptions before I can grab him off the street. The requests for help outnumber the amount of cats that we are adopting out.

Want to help? Adopt one of my adult cats, aged 1-5, so I can rescue the friendlies who I'm sure I will run in to soon enough. If I get cats adopted I can be more aggressive in going there to rescue friendlies. I can TNR the ferals while there too. If you cannot adopt then please consider donating. Thank you!

ADOPT SUSHI

SUSHI was advertised on Craigslist by someone looking to make some cash. We usually don't get involved with Craigslist cat rescues, but we paid the person and got him out of the situation. Shortly thereafter he became sick. We got him healthy but he leaves a permanently scarred eye as a reminder.

SUSHI is about a year old, fixed and fully vetted after I rescued him.

He's a sweet, friendly guy, and gets along with other cats but will also do great as a single.

I hope he doesn't get overlooked because of his eye; all I can do is post him and ask for you guys to share him on your social media accounts.

If you are in the NYC area and would like to adopt SUSHI please apply here:

BARN CAT PLACEMENT NEEDED

Anyone with a barn who has successfully acclimated cats to their place?

Meet SULLY. He is about two years old and never socialized to enjoy being around people. Sure he will eat near you, but will run at the mere motion of you going to pet him.

For every cat like SULLY who is living in my apartment, squirming away from being pet, and is completely unadoptable to anyone seeking a loving housecat, that takes up a spot from me rescuing a homeless truly friendly former housecat in need.

Does anyone who already has 2, 3, or 4 indoor cats want to invite SULLY to join their crew? Either that or a barn will work.

Email me: [email protected] to inquire about SULLY.

Please share this post with all of your friends who have barns and barn cats or people who have multiple cats at home.

Will consider up to a 3 hour radius of NYC. Thank you.

DONATIONS NEEDED!

I'm a broken record at this point.

I'm still doing TNR, still finding friendlies as I go along, and on top of that it's kitten season.

My food bill at the wholesale warehouse was over $1000 this week. It's low because last week I made a large order for $2400. In order for me to keep paying down my medical bills at AVG I really need help with food, litter, and supplies.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to Paul The Cat Guy, Inc.

STUCK WITH SPARROW

I trapped a skittish SPARROW from a 99 Cent Store, got her spayed and vetted, and had someone talk to her former owner about giving her to the rescue instead of dropping her off at a totally new and different environment at a store in Manhattan.

The plan was initially to trap her, spay her, and give her to the owner at his new place of business. Boy, did I get an earful of people telling me not to give her back, to keep her, to adopt her out, telling me the owner doesn't deserve her, etc.

Well I did what you guys wanted me to do and now she sits in a cage. She is fully vetted, has been seen by a more comprehensive vet clinic and has been finally eating well and healthier than what she was consuming at the store.

But guess what? NONE of you guys have offered to adopt her.

I am sitting with yet another adult cat in my rescue, while fielding TNR requests by the dozen each week, where I can only do two at a time as it is.

Read through the comments, these are only some of the people questioning my judgement and dictating where SPARROW should go.

I was able to do what you guys wished yet everyone has gone silent and back to their lattes and planning their summer trips.

I NEED AN ADOPTER FOR SPARROW. Responsible, patient, and common sense. No dogs, no other cats preferably, no kids.

Apply to adopt here:

www.paulthecatguy.com/adopt

If you have any specific questions about her, email me at: [email protected]

I'm always scrutinized to do the right thing so now it's time for YOU to do the right thing. Adopt a cat in need. I'm sure if the store owner knew she had no one interested in her he would take her back in a heartbeat.
