Mission: pairing veterans with service dogs

Soldiers and Dogs is a non profit organization with the goal of su***de prevention among veterans of all eras who may suffer from PTSD, depression, isolation and other issues. Watch for upcoming educational events in our area on what we do and why we do it. This is also a way to reach out to the spouse, family and friends of those who may be afflicted.

One of our veterans could not make it to the filming for our video recapping some of the stories and successes of the mission. With his permission, we couldn’t miss sharing his input.

“Gunner is the smartest dog. He is a best friend and part of the family. I only wish I could take him riding in the side car more often. He sits in it every day waiting for me to take him for a ride. The training is essential and I can’t say enough for what Gary and Soldiers and Dogs has meant to me.”

As a sidenote, Bob shared with us that Gunner now weighs 130 pounds!!

I believe this 333 rule to be pretty accurate. Depending on breed this is true in my experience more or less for most dogs and their age. I have 6 dogs at.present . If you can't deal with this be fair to the dog and get a hamster. It's not easy but don't give up. If it doesn't work out don't blame the dog, its your fault not the dog. Trainers can't make the dog bond to you. It's a process that will give you the best friend you will ever have but you have to to invest your time and there is not such thing as I give up in my world. They will love you till end of time. Sorry for bluntness that's my out look.

We are lining up interviews for a promotional video to be shot at the headquarters of S&D June 16 at 9 AM.
