💖 Healthy relationships begin with respect.

🌈 Every person deserves to have their boundaries honored, their voice heard, and their consent respected. Creating safer communities means recognizing each person's right to autonomy, dignity, and self-determination.

Hello, Wise Friends! 💚

This month we're reflecting on Juneteenth, celebrating six years of Safe Place Parking, and getting ready to see folks at the Oneida Pow Wow!

A few highlights from our June update:

🚗 Safe Place Parking has supported neighbors living in their vehicles for six years — and on busy nights, as many as 46 vehicles rely on the program for safety and rest.

📅 Our summer Safe Place Parking giving campaign runs July 15–August 15 to help sustain the program through the summer and into the fall season.

🪶 Stop by our booth at the 52nd Annual Oneida Pow Wow, June 26–28 at the Norbert Hill Center — we'd love to see you there!

🌈 LGBTQ+ survivors often face additional barriers when seeking safety, healing, and support. Fear of discrimination, lack of affirming services, concerns about confidentiality, and past experiences of harm can inhibit reaching out for help.

Everyone deserves to be seen, believed, and supported with dignity. Creating safer, more inclusive communities means learning about the experiences of others, recognizing barriers, and working together to remove them so that it becomes possible for everyone to have peace, respect, and a sense of belonging.

❤️‍🩹 Healing is possible when people are met with respect, affirmation, and care.

⏳Six years ago, our community decided no one should have to sleep somewhere unsafe.

✨ Safe Place Parking is still open tonight — because you keep showing up.

🚗 In 2025, we provided 17,629 nights of safe shelter to 440 participants, including 63 children. It costs $12,500 a month to keep the lot open. Every contribution makes Safe Place Parking possible.

Today is Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Elder abuse is often hidden, misunderstood, or dismissed. Awareness can help protect the dignity, safety, and rights of older adults in our communities.

This Myth vs. Fact guide offers important information about recognizing elder abuse, challenging common misconceptions, and knowing how to support elders who may be at risk.
