Members from the Ashtabula, Conneaut, and Painesville Lions Clubs collected nearly 4,000 pairs of used eyeglasses. On April 25, 2026, the donations were delivered to the Lions Eye Program of Northeast Ohio at Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland. They were joined by Lions from several other clubs, bringing the total number of collected used eyeglasses to nearly 10,000 pairs.

The eyeglasses will be sent to VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), where they will be cleaned, sorted by size and prescription strength, and packaged for distribution on mission trips around the world. During these missions, volunteers and Lions Club members conduct vision screenings and provide recycled eyeglasses—free of charge—to children and adults in need. Sunglasses are also distributed to migrant workers to help protect their eyes from prolonged sun exposure.

The Ashtabula Lions Club is thankful to be able to donate 30 complete Thanksgiving meals to local food pantries for families that may not be able to afford it otherwise. Our members work hard all year raising funds to donate back our community and communities in need around the world.

We are always looking for new members to help us on our mission and bring fresh ideas to the table. We meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at at 6:00 pm at Goddess Winehouse and encourage anyone who wants to give back to come to a meeting, hear what we're all about, and see how you can make a difference too!
