Please check out my father's first book, on his life as a hardware electrical engineer in the semiconductor industry, troubleshooting problems to get the worlds' systems going. He didn't go to any fancy schools, and didn't know anything about his biological parents until 2020. His parents who raised him, (my grandparents) were sweet scrappy resilient people from West Texas, who ran a used car lot, raised pigeons for people to eat, had a milk cow. His father apparently lied about his age and dropped out of school in the Great Depression to work and help the family. Served in the war. Drove an Ice Truck for some time, and developed a strong physique, his mother later told my mother. My father also won a diesel mechanic scholarship, but "threw it", because he didn't want to be a mechanic, and instead went to an experimental 2 year degree in ONLY electrical engineering at Texas A&M in the 70's. My father then built a career in the succeeding decades in solving problems that no one else could solve (interspersed with various entrepreneurial and passion projects) He attempted to have TI spin off its computing division, as I understand, but the effort didn't receive sufficient support, and TI ended up being outcompeted. .... I read a draft of the book some 4 or 5 years ago, but I haven't seen the latest version. He's been working with the editing team for the last 8-12 months to finalize for publish today. (I'm proud of the phrase "silicon trenches", my contribution to the book....).
