Lynette Watkins, author of “Can it be that Some Chains Are Mere Shadows? A Visual Journey From Darkness To Light”, has been a professional artist, an art professor, and a musician her entire adult life. As an art professor, she presents “real-life” opportunities to explore, develop, nurture, and inspire healing in her students through art and creativity. Her book nurtures the human spirit and empowers individuals to recognize, visualize, and articulate life’s struggles, ultimately finding strength and the ability to reach for freedom. The use of abstract and symbolic imagery initiates viewer participation by interpreting what’s seen through the filter of their experiences, activating their creativity and giving emotions a place to land that isn’t verbal. Her philosophy is that visual images have power and limitless communication that displaces all barriers.
