Ever wonder how you judge honey without playing favorites? You hide it. 🍯

Here's how the Black Jar Contest stays honest: every entry goes into a glass jar marked with a random number, then slips into a small black bag that conceals its color, its clarity, even its grain. Judges never see who made it, where it came from, or what it looks like. They just taste.

No labels. No reputations. No big-name advantage. Just honey, anonymous and on its own merits, winning on flavor. πŸ₯‡

The 5th Annual Asheville HoneyFest was one for the books! 🌟

Thank you to every vendor, volunteer, sponsor, musician, performer, and individual who participated in this year's fest -- it was truly the best and BIGGEST ever! The meadow at Highland Brewing Company was bustling, our honey tasting and sales lines were full all day, and the musicians and performers kept everyone smiling!

From all of us at Honey for Good, thank you.

She treats a beehive like a medicine cabinet β€” and we're honored to welcome her to ours. 🐝

Meet Samantha Foxx Winship, the newest member of the Honey For Good board. Known across the Carolinas as the Queen Bee, Samantha runs Mother's Finest Urban Family Farms in Winston-Salem, one of just six Black family-owned farms in Forsyth County. Her work weaves together beekeeping, education, and community-building β€” from honey-based salves and apitherapy to a quiet room where the hum of the hives does the healing.

She's a tireless advocate for the heritage of Black farming and for passing that hard-won knowledge to the next generation. Exactly the kind of vision we want helping shape what comes next.

Welcome to the hive, Samantha. 🍯

We have a new name β€” and it feels just right. 🐝

Honey for Good is the next chapter of the organization our founder, Carl Chesick, built with so much heart. Same community, same commitment to honeybees and the people who keep them β€” just a clearer, truer reflection of who we are and where we're headed.

Conservation. Education. Celebration. That's what drives us, and we are just getting started.

Welcome to Honey for Good. We're glad you're here. 🍯
