Westminster Abbey, originally constructed by Henry III in 1245, stands as a cornerstone of Gothic architecture in England. Initially a Benedictine monastery, it has served as the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place for 17 monarchs. The Abbey houses a rich treasury of paintings, stained glass, intricate pavements, textiles, books, and diverse artifacts, alongside the UK's most significant collection of monumental sculptures. From its imposing Norman stonework to its tranquil cloisters, Westminster Abbey is an unparalleled architectural marvel.

Over the years of sharing content on this page, this photograph has left the deepest impression on me. It's one of the most profound displays of mateship I’ve ever encountered. Captured during the Anzac Day March in London in 1919, the image shows an Australian soldier who lost both legs in WWI being carried by a comrade into Australia House, ensuring he could witness the march from a prime spot.

This photograph embodies the essence of mateship that defined those Australians who served in wartime. Every Australian should see this image and appreciate the unwavering bond among these soldiers. Lest We Forget.

The photograph is sourced from the Australian War Memorial, image file number AWM H18643.
