Rivers & Birds

Rivers & Birds Using positive learning adventures, we teach the connectedness of all systems: natural, living, and man-made.

We provide experiential environmental education which celebrates the interconnection of all life and inspires individuals as leaders for Earth stewardship and peace. We at Rivers & Birds believe that, for a healthy, peaceful future, we must all, children and adults alike, understand and strengthen our sense of self in relationship to the physical world around us. We celebrate this diversity that i

s the key to life on Earth. In 1998, wildlife biologist, Roberta Salazar, established Rivers & Birds as a nonprofit educational organization. Today our programs, conducted by a skilled staff of scientists, research biologists, and educators serve as examples to others. In the community: We offer educational workshops, wildlife demonstration opportunities, community screenings of our award-winning documentary Nuestras Acequias, and the annual Wild Film Festival (fall) and the Eco Film Series (spring). All of these activities are fun and exciting ways to learn about our environment. In public schools: We lead students and teachers, along with community leaders, on scientific, historic, and cultural journeys into nature designed to connect them to the environment. Our award winning, hands-on experiential Watershed Learning Project is presented yearly to over five hundred 5th grade students. In research: Our professional staff and associates provide broad ecological research experience and data analysis expertise to local, state, and federal land managers.
