I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend despite the weather! I just have a couple of things to mention and ask of my fellow neighbors…..

I noticed that someone has left a mattress at the Cabinet. If someone wants or needs it, please take it ASAP. It has been there several days and I would hate for it to get wet with all the rain we are having and/or for it to become a nest for rodents and bugs.

While I do hope to one day have the resources and infrastructure to have a free thrift store to help serve our neighbors, I currently am not to that point. Right now the primary focus of the Care Cabinet is to meet food insecurity needs and basic care essentials. Unfortunately it just isn’t set up or equipped to take large items like furniture, bedding, etc.. I do not own the property where the Cabinet is located, so I want to be respectful of those that do and graciously allow me to use it for this specific purpose.

Having said that, I want to thank our community for your generosity in serving others. However, I’m going respectfully to ask that the mattress be removed by Monday or I will have to dispose of it. This isn’t because I’m not grateful for the generosity, but I’m just not set up for these types of donations.

If anyone has items they want to donate that fall into the large item categories such as furniture (or anything that doesn’t fit inside the Cabinet), please message me and I will gladly post it on this page for you! I’m sure we have neighbors in need of those type of items as well.

The Cabinet has been stocked with several pantry staples including pastas, boxed meals, instant potatoes, canned goods, peanut butter, and dried beans.

Just as a reminder, if you place items in the Cabinet, please check that it is unopened and not out of date. This is a food safety issue.

I have added some items to the Cabinet this afternoon.

It is in need of nonperishable food items such as canned goods, boxed meals, pasta, etc., if our community can help with this. I appreciate everyone who has helped with this effort to serve. Your contributions aren’t unnoticed.

Remember, you can donate items directly to the Cabinet or you can make a monetary donation through Venmo. 100% of monies will go directly to stocking the Cabinet.

The Cabinet has a nice assortment of canned goods and an abundance of dried beans.

I’m on my way to pick up some other items to go in as well.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Care Cabinet. I apologize that I haven’t posted as much recently.

The Cabinet has a surplus of dried beans, so please take what you need.

I am working on collecting more canned goods and other items. I’ve had a few people reach out about donating, so once I get those in hand I will have them stocked. At this time, if you want to donate, please consider items such as canned goods, box meals, etc., until some of the dry bean stock is depleted.
