💚 Temporary Intake Closure 💚

Due to limited space and funding, we are temporarily closed for new wildlife intakes.

Right now we’re caring for 22 opossums, 6 fawns, and 7 raccoons, and we need to make sure every animal already in our care gets the time, formula, supplies, and medical care they deserve.

Attached is the Oklahoma wildlife rehabilitator list along with the WildCare website to help you find another licensed rehabber. If you need help finding someone or arranging transport, please don’t hesitate to message us. We will do everything we can to help.

As soon as we have animals released back into the wild and our funding improves, we will reopen for intakes.

We never want to turn anyone away, and we’re truly sorry for this temporary closure. Thank you for your understanding, your support, and for caring about Oklahoma’s wildlife. ❤️

Rescue fatigue is real. 💔😴

To all my fellow rehabbers following our page…

I see you.

I know the exhaustion that comes with the late nights, early mornings, endless feedings, cleaning, vet trips, heartbreak, and never feeling caught up. I know what it’s like to put your own life on hold, spend money you don’t have, and carry the weight of every animal that comes through your door.

People see the happy releases, but they don’t always see everything it took to get there,or the tears shed for the ones we couldn’t save.

If you’re feeling worn out, you’re not alone. Thank you for continuing to show up for the wildlife that needs us. What you do matters, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.

Hang in there, friends. Baby season won’t last forever. 🫂

🍼We are getting close to having to order more formula and we could really use your help to keep these babies fed!

Right now we’re caring for seven raccoons, a squirrels, six growing fawns and 21 opossums, and every one of them depends on specialized formula to survive and thrive. These aren’t formulas you can pick up at the grocery store, they’re wildlife-specific formulas that are essential for healthy growth and development.

Formula is one of our biggest ongoing expenses during baby season. As these little ones grow, so do their appetites, and we go through an incredible amount each week.

Today we’ll be sharing photos of the formulas we use along with the current prices from the websites where we purchase them. If you’d like to help, any donation—big or small—goes directly toward keeping these babies healthy until they’re ready to be released back into the wild.

💚 Ways to help:
Donate through our Venmo

Donate through our Cash App

Donate through our Givebutter fundraiser

Every $5, $10, or $20 truly makes a difference. When hundreds of bottles are being mixed each week, your support helps ensure no baby goes hungry.

Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us give these wild babies a second chance. We couldn’t do this without our amazing supporters! 💚🦝🐿️🦌

Opossums, squirrels, raccoons, and fawns… oh my! 🦝🦌🐿️

It’s been a little while since I’ve given an opossum update!

🩶 We released 16 opossums a few weeks ago.
🩶 We have 10 more that are getting very close to release.
🩶 We also have 14 little ones still growing.

The best news? Every single opossum is officially in our grow-out enclosures! Watching them reach this stage is so rewarding.

Current nursery update:
🐿️ 1 baby squirrel in the incubator.
🦝 7 baby raccoons ranging from 5 to 11 weeks old.
🦌 5 fawns keeping us on our toes!

Baby season is definitely in full swing around here, and while it’s exhausting, it’s also incredibly rewarding to watch these little ones grow stronger every day.

If you think about us, please send a few prayers our way, for strength, endurance, and maybe just a little extra sleep! 😂 We appreciate every bit of love and support you all give us. ❤️

We are in need of enrichment toys for our 7 growing baby raccoons!

Enrichment is an important part of wildlife rehabilitation. As raccoons grow, they need opportunities to climb, explore, manipulate objects, problem-solve, and practice natural behaviors. Enrichment helps keep their minds active, prevents boredom, reduces stress, and prepares them for life in the wild.

We are looking for gently used or new toddler toys and small stuffed animals (without beans, pellets, or hard plastic parts). Toys should be sturdy, washable, and safe for curious little paws.

Examples of items we can use:
🦝 Plastic toddler keys
🦝 Stacking cups
🦝 Shape sorters
🦝 Large toddler blocks
🦝 Activity toys with buttons, levers, and moving parts
🦝 Baby rattles
🦝 Sensory balls
🦝 Small stuffed animals without bean filling
🦝 Durable baby toys that can be climbed on, carried, or investigated

If you have any of these items sitting around that your children have outgrown, we’d love to give them a second life helping our wildlife babies learn and grow!

Donations can be dropped off locally or arrangements can be made for pickup. Thank you for helping us provide the best care possible for these little ones!

🐾 $5 Friday Fundraiser 🐾

It’s Friday, and we’re asking for just $5 to help support the wildlife currently in our care.

Every dollar donated goes directly toward:
🍼 Formula for orphaned babies
💊 Medications and medical supplies
🩺 Veterinary expenses
🧻 Cleaning and daily care supplies
🦝 Food and enrichment for growing wildlife

Right now, we are caring for numerous orphaned and injured wild animals, all while operating completely on donations and volunteer time. No donation is too small—if just a few people give $5 today, it can make a huge difference for the animals depending on us.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this post to help us reach others who may be able to help.

Thank you for supporting Southern OK Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation and helping us give these animals a second chance. ❤️🐾

$5 can help save a life. Will you be one of our $5 Friday supporters today?
