Make sure to surround yourself with friends who will help you swat flies off your face and not let you walk to the watering hole alone on a hot day.

Fun fact: horses will stand next to each other facing opposite directions to swish their tails to keep flies off of each others faces.

🧠 Your brain is constantly adapting—whether you realize it or not.

Research in neuroscience continues to show that the brain is shaped by experience, stress, and environment over time.

👉 What you go through doesn’t just affect how you feel—
it can actually influence how your brain functions.

🔬 What this type of research highlights:

The brain is not fixed. It is:
• constantly changing
• shaped by repeated experiences
• influenced by both stress and recovery

👉 This is called neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to adapt.

💡 Why this matters for first responders:

This job includes:
• repeated exposure to stress
• high-intensity environments
• limited recovery time

Over time, those experiences can:
→ strengthen certain response patterns
→ increase reactivity
→ impact emotional regulation

⚠️ But here’s the important part:

The same brain that adapts to stress
👉 can also adapt to recovery

🛡️ What supports healthy brain adaptation:

✔️ Rest and sleep
✔️ Physical movement
✔️ Social connection
✔️ Time to process experiences

👉 The takeaway:

You are not “stuck” with how your brain responds today.

Because the brain is always learning—
👉 the question is what it’s learning from.

This week, we join communities across the nation in recognizing National Police Week, a time to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of law enforcement officers past and present.

National Police Week was established in 1962, when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as a time to pay tribute to those who have given their lives in the line of duty. What began as a national observance has grown into a powerful reminder of the risks officers face every day and the commitment behind the badge.

We pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. Behind every name is a story of service, a family forever changed, and a legacy that continues to inspire. We honor them not only with words, but with our continued commitment to uphold the values they stood for.

To the deputies and officers serving today: thank you. You stand on the front lines, answering the call at all hours, facing uncertainty with professionalism and resolve. Your dedication to this community makes a difference every single day.

Today and every day, we remember the fallen and we remain committed to serving with honor and integrity.

“Even when there are a thousand things to do, cherish these unrushed moments. Make room in your heart for them. There will be many mountains to climb, but always make time to find the pastures where you can rest.” - Morgan Harper Nichols

To a horse, the herd means safety, connection, and not being alone when faced with uncertainty. We need our herd too. This weekend we were surrounded by our “herd” and were honored to have them join us in a very special blessing of our horses. Each horse was anointed with Holy oil from Israel and prayed over to be set apart.

In Biblical times Horses were a sign of strength, power and provision. Psalm 20:7 says “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” However, we know when Jesus returns it will be on the back of a horse. (The best animal He could have created in our opinion)

We were also reminded that Daring Greatly looks a lot like courage. Courage is not fearlessness but trusting something more. We trust that God has had His hand in the work we are doing through connecting people with horses. We know He will continue to work through us to come alongside each person who steps into the arena.

God is good!
