is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing dogs in need, rehabilitating if necessary, and then adopting to approved homes where they will be loved as part of a family while also encouraging responsible pet care and striving to increase awareness of the consequences of pet overpopulation through educational programs and materials. We do not operate from a shelter but rather a

network of foster homes in different areas of the state so it may not always be possible for you to meet more than one of our dogs at a time. While this can be frustrating for a prospective adopter, the foster home setting allows us to better evaluate the dogs' temperaments and help them adjust to family life. We deal primarily with dogs under 30 pounds but will also take in larger dogs if a foster home is available.

🎒🐾 FOSTER FRIDAY: MEET OUR CLASS CLOWN & CHEER CAPTAIN! 🐾📣

The girls who care for our Castaways every day created these adorable boards to showcase two very special pups they know and love!

🤡 Beckham, our 1-year-old “Class Clown,” is eight pounds of energy, personality and pure muscle! This athletic little social butterfly loves running, playing ball, making friends and—most importantly—treats. All of them!

📣 Willow, our 2-year-old “Cheer Captain,” loves people, attention, sunbathing and meaty treats. She is a confident little leader who knows what she wants and would thrive in a home where she can receive plenty of love and attention.

Their boards may say “ADOPT ME,” but Beckham and Willow would also be very happy to say:

🏡 FOSTER ME!

A foster home would give either of them a wonderful break from rescue life while they wait for a forever family. Could one of these special Castaways be your temporary—or permanent—new roommate?

💙💚 THANKFUL THURSDAY 💚💙

Some people celebrate their birthday with cake and presents. 🎂🎁
Dr. Damien Lin celebrated hers by helping our Castaways! 🐾❤️

Dr. Lin, a veterinarian in the Naples area, chose Canine Castaways as the beneficiary of her Facebook Birthday Fundraiser, and her friends, family and clients certainly showed up!

🎉 Together they raised an incredible $744 for our Castaways! 🎉

But there was something else about her fundraiser that made us smile…

Dr. Lin invited clients who have adopted from Canine Castaways to share photos of their former Castaways living their best lives today. 🥰 And she has a special Castaway connection of her own: one of our alumni is her very own granddog! 🐶❤️

Seeing those familiar little faces pop up was such a wonderful reminder of where this all leads. The dogs who once needed us are now cherished members of families, making memories and being very, very loved.

Dr. Lin, thank you for choosing to celebrate your birthday by giving back to our dogs, and thank you to everyone who donated, shared photos and helped make her fundraiser such a huge success.

🐾💚 TAIL WAGGING TUESDAY: MUFFIN IS HOME! 💚🐾

We may have missed getting the official adoption photo when Muffin left Canine Castaways…

But we think this one is even better. ❤️

Because THIS is what adoption is really all about.

Muffin is home, settled in, and already looking pretty comfortable with her new furry siblings. 🐶🐶🐱

Judging by this picture, we’d say Muffin has figured out the household routine quite nicely. 😂💤

🐾💚 TAIL WAGGING TUESDAY: HOME AT LAST! 💚🐾

For more than THREE YEARS, Hermie waited.

Hermie came to Canine Castaways from a hoarding situation where he had very little human contact. Because of that beginning, learning to trust people hasn’t been easy for him.

He’s still timid.
He’s still learning.
He still needs patience.

And for more than three years, people passed him by.

Until someone finally looked at Hermie and didn’t see the dog he wasn’t…

She saw the sweet little dog he is and decided he deserved a chance. ❤️

Hermie has been ADOPTED! 🏡🐾

His new mom understands that trust may come slowly and that their relationship won’t be built overnight. But she was willing to give him something he’s been waiting more than three years to find:

Time. Patience. Love. And a home of his own.

There are some adoptions that hit us a little differently, and this is certainly one of them.

🏖️☀️ It’s National Beach Day—and our beach crew understood the assignment… sort of.

Amigo packed everything but the kitchen sink.

Zane is still trying to figure out who planned this outing.

And Willow would like to speak with whoever forgot to bring the ocean. 😂

They may have different ideas about the perfect beach day, but all three agree that every day would be better with a family of their own.

Jack may look ready to take on the world—but he prefers to meet it one new person at a time.

At 7 months old and 9.3 pounds, Jack can be shy and a little “stranger-danger” when first meeting someone. Give him a little patience, gentle attention and time to feel safe, and the playful, affectionate puppy underneath begins to appear. ❤️

Once comfortable, Jack loves to play—and he isn’t intimidated by bigger dogs! He can be a little rough-and-tumble, so he would love an active family or a playful canine friend who enjoys his puppy enthusiasm.

Jack is mostly house-trained, does well in a crate and is still working on his leash skills. He loves toys, chewing on bones and ending the day with a good bedtime snuggle.

From the countryside to the high seas—and maybe a quick coffee stop along the way—Jack is ready for life’s adventures. He just needs a family willing to show him that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. 🏡🐾

🌻 She searched through the countryside…
⛵️ sailed the high seas…
☕️ and even stopped at the local coffee shop…

But Luna still hasn’t found what she’s really looking for: a forever family of her own. ❤️

Luna is a 1–2-year-old scruffy terrier mix weighing about 10 pounds. She is fast, playful and always ready for her next adventure. She loves people, enjoys playing with other dogs and would thrive with an active family—or a canine playmate who can keep up with her!

Cats, however, are not on Luna’s list of preferred roommates. They are simply far too tempting to chase.

When the adventures are over, Luna is happy to settle in and relax. This fun-loving little girl lives life at full speed and is looking for someone who wants to enjoy the ride with her. 🐾
