ASF History:
The Aptos High Sports Foundation was created in 1979 as a non-profit organization for the purpose of improving the sports facilities and after-school programs at Aptos High School. Original founders Dean Weise, Smiley Verduzco, Joe Callahan, Joe MacEnerny and Paul Bailey established it as a Foundation separate from the high school to allow for more flexibility in fund raising and don
ations. Over the years the Foundation has raised and donated funds, materials and labor totaling more than $3,300,000 toward those improvements. Our plan is to take the Aptos Sports Foundation to a higher level. Our vision of ASF’s future is to improve facilities, and fund after-school sports programs throughout Aptos. Our primary focus is the development of Aptos sports program (specifically Aptos High School) resulting in a top quality athletic program to rival the best programs in Northern California, public or private. We have established relationships with the school district, alumni and the community of Aptos that we can utilize to develop the fund under the umbrella of Aptos Sports Foundation. There is now an alumni base reaching back to the first graduation class – 1970. The relationships and credibility created through the years gives us a platform to develop the endowment fund and grow the impact of the Aptos Sports Foundation. These alumni can now fondly look back and attribute some of their successes in life to lessons learned, and friendship made, during their participation in after-school sports. Now it's your turn to get involved. Be a part of it! You're a Mariner for life and we want you to be connected to the family! Copyright ©Aptos Sports Foundation 2014
