Gilliana Hope

Gilliana is an avid believer in creative expression as a vital tool for healing, having turned to it throughout her entire life. You may recognize her from helping to found and host the all-ages open mic program with or from coaching for Turn It Up Rock Camp since 2023!
Originally from Houston, the singer-songwriter has made the Midwest her home-base as she develops social justice, mutual aid, and works to build collective creativity within local DIY spaces and projects. She actively works with the Train Station and as a member of the folk-pop-punk band , supporting music locally, regionally, and beyond.

We are excited to have Audrey Hendrickson as a first time breakout session leader.

Audrey will present on learning the role of being a drummer, how drum music is written and putting together beats for multiple percussion instruments.

Audrey Hendrickson is an accomplished drummer who has been keeping the beat for most of her life. She is currently playing with a local group called Wine on Friday’s and she is a trusted advisor for all things drums at Heid Music in Appleton. She has many years of teaching experience and is excited to share her love of drums with you!

Ivy Garrett

Ivy is a local activist and artist who believes everyone should have a space to express themselves, and that self expression is key to knowing who you are.

Ivy coached for the 2023 Turn it Up Jam Session and the 2024 & 2025 Turn it Up Rock Camps.

We are so excited to have Coach Ivy back for TIU 2026.

Turn it Up Rock Camp organizes participants into bands where they write an original song, get individual/group instruction and perform a showcase at the end of camp week. Throughout the week there are breakout sessions for things like songwriting, zine making, and more!

Applications are reserved for girls, non-binary, transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who are 12-18 with 2 years of experience on their instrument.

A couple of things to know about the video/audio portion of our registration.
1. We never use the submissions for anything except for the coaches listening to and using it as an aid to put bands together.
2. It is not an audition. If you register for camp and you meet the requirements for camp, you’re in.
3. We don’t need to actually see you! If you don’t want to appear on camera, you don’t need to. Make an audio file or put your favorite stuffy in front of the screen as proxy, we don’t care how you do it but we just need to hear YOU PLAYING.

To register have:
-a short video(state your name at the beginning) demonstrating 2-3 minutes total of two different styles
-adult-in-charge if you’re under 18 to review the agreements with you
-a snack cuz who wants to fill out a form without a snack and hydrate too

Let’s get silly in May. Cat Tervo will be the featured artist this month.

Cat Tervo is a comedian and illustrator who likes to get a little silly with it. Her work as an illustrator has brought her all across the US, but she is currently based in Appleton, Wisconsin. She can be seen performing stand-up comedy on various stages in the Fox Valley where she jokes about her dating life, her lifelong passion for animals, and her love for broadway musicals about cats.
