The Braid Operation wasn’t built on a trendy business plan. It was built on survival, purpose, and lived experience.🤞🏾
Growing up moving through the foster care system, I was placed with non black families most of the time who didn’t know how to care for my hair and most didn’t even try. Learning to braid wasn’t just a fun skill for me back then, it was survival.
I didn’t set out with a dream to be the “best” in the industry and still don’t. I just want to be who I needed when I was a child. 💕
That’s how The Braid Operation was birthed.
Today, we operate as a trauma-informed, in-salon and mobile service, bringing direct hair care and education to foster youth right where they are. Beyond the chair, we partner with major hair care brands to build dignity kits and give back directly to the foster care community, restoring dignity, culture, and confidence one crown at a time.✨
Recognized with a nomination for startup Business of the Year at the 6th Annual Black Business Ball! 🏆
When you build something out of real purpose, the recognition hits different. 🙏🏾
