On May 21, 2016, Jeffrey and Krystal Corcoran had a charming, intelligent, playful, and determined baby boy named Chaney James Corcoran. Tragically, Chaney passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at just 10 weeks old. During his short life, he displayed unconditional love to the many that he encountered and inspired his family to carry on this same love to their community. To honor Ch

aney and carry on his legacy, his family created Chaney’s Champions. After some deliberation by family members, they decided to focus their efforts on providing comfort to children who are experiencing difficult times. Chaney’s Champions provides teddy bears to organizations that support and protect children during their time of need. “Our goal is to expand the program over time so that additional kids and municipalities can benefit while also allowing our family to continue to heal the sizeable void left in our hearts by Chaney’s physical absence,” said Jeffrey.

🐻 145 bears. 145 opportunities to bring comfort. ❤️

This week, 145 Chaney’s Champions teddy bears are headed to Bon Secours Hampton Roads KIDZ’NGRIEF to support the children attending their summer camp and to continue bringing comfort through their regular programs once the school year begins.

Each of these bears represents a hug when words are hard to find, a source of comfort during unimaginable loss, and a reminder to a child that they are not alone.

This is exactly why Chaney’s Champions exists. In memory of our sweet Chaney, we are honored to help provide comfort to children walking through some of life’s hardest moments.

A huge thank you to KIDZ’NGRIEF for the incredible work they do supporting grieving children and families. We are so grateful to be a small part of your mission.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our story, and supported Chaney’s Champions. Because of you, these 145 bears are about to make a difference in the lives of children who need them most. ❤️🐻

What a beautiful and meaningful day for Chaney’s Champions. Today, we had the honor of donating 100 Chaney Bears to Oliver C Greenwood Elementary School to help comfort children who may be facing grief, hardship, or just need a little extra love.

This partnership is especially close to our hearts because the school serves many military children and also has an on-site grief program. Hearing the children share stories about how stuffed animals bring them comfort was incredibly touching and such a powerful reminder of why these bears matter.

The students made us the sweetest thank you sign along with individual signs, and it meant so much to see the love, thought, and gratitude they put into them. Moments like this remind us that even something small can bring real comfort and connection to a child.

We are so excited about this partnership and hope to continue supplying Chaney Bears to this wonderful school.

A very special thank you to Kristy Spurgeon for helping set this up and coordinate everything. We are so grateful for your support and for helping make this day possible.

Thank you, Oliver C Greenwood Elementary School, for welcoming us so warmly. Our hearts are full today. ❤️🧸

We're honored to be part of this work supporting children and families through grief. Healing looks different for every child, but no child should have to navigate loss alone.

Thank you for helping create spaces where kids feel seen, supported, and safe.
