As Hispanic Heritage Month ends, DAR celebrates the enduring contributions of Hispanic people and the important role they played in the story of American independence.

Last September, DAR and the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute co-hosted Spain and the Birth of American Democracy, a symposium exploring Spain’s contributions to the American Revolution. Through DAR’s genealogical resources and ongoing research, we continue to uncover the stories of Patriots from diverse backgrounds who contributed to the cause of American independence. The Ocotillo Chapter was proud to participate in a packing event with Youth for Troops as part of our DAR Day of Service!

Our members came together to show appreciation for our active-duty military members by: 🦃 Packing boxes for Thanksgiving to help make the holiday a little brighter 🎄 Decorating boxes for Christmas to spread holiday cheer 💌 Writing heartfelt cards and postcards expressing our gratitude and appreciation for those who serve our country.

We hope to remind our military members they are appreciated, supported, and remembered by their communities, especially during the holiday season.

We are grateful to Youth for Troops for the opportunity to serve alongside them and to honor the brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our freedom.

Calling All Young Historians!

Your local Anthem Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invites students in grades 5–8 to participate in the American History Essay Contest.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their writing talents, explore our nation’s history, and deepen their appreciation for the people and events that helped shape America.

Students attending public, private, or parochial schools, as well as those who are homeschooled, are welcome to participate.

It may have been a very hot Arizona September day but we were proud to host our first blood drive to give recognition to the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. Never Forget.

We are now halfway through the DAR Month of Service initiative and are already so excited to see the meaningful ways that Daughters around the country are serving their communities! Don’t forget to enter your service hours in the Service to America Online Tally and submit your service story and service photos for potential inclusion on the National Society website and social media channels!

Let Freedom Ring!

Ocotillo Chapter members are celebrating Constitution Day and Bells Across America. Our members are wearing ribbons with bells as a reminder of the freedoms protected by our Constitution.

On September 17 at 1:00 p.m. Arizona time, join us in ringing a bell for one minute to honor our Constitution and the principles upon which our nation was founded.

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On Patriot Day, we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who showed us the power of courage, compassion, and service.

Today also marks the beginning of DAR’s Month of Service. Ocotillo Chapter is honoring this day by giving back through a blood drive—because one donation can save a life, and one life can make a difference.
